Read EVERY single fine print…

Read EVERY single fine print down to every letter and each punctuation point. This company has been the worst not only when it comes to cost, but their lack of empathy, their unwillingness to cover anything EVEN if the diagnosis ties into something it pet is currently being treated for, they will take the cowards way out to tie it back to something and call it “pre-existing”

Never I would trust Nationwide

I had nationwide since my english bulldog was a puppy. It was doing well until September 2024, when they sent me a letter of reducing the benefits from my policy. Sad enough for me because my boy was 9yrs old that time. I had 90% back and $500 deductible, they reduced to 50% back. It was bad enough because of my dog's age despite of the yearly increase that it came to a point of paying almost $300 per month I got them from my work thru payroll deduction. They do not care on pet's health as they get old, where they were needed most. I called them but they could not give me a good reason, and I only used them when needed or in an emergency situations. I would say " never to believe and trust them, they will leave you when you most need them".

Don't buy Healthy Paws Insurance

It's disgusting to see all the responses from Healthy Paws in this thread, acting like they care and that their insane and constant rate increases are reasonable and not based on age. Like many others, they told me this lie years ago when I asked about their rate increases. At the time it wouldn't have been too late for me to find a decent pet insurance company. Last year when my dog turned 10 they went up to $250/month. This year they want $364. They've paid out a total of $250 for medical treatment of my dog when she was a puppy. Don't buy insurance from this company. I really wish I'd just put the over $20,000 they've charged for 1 dog aside, just in case.

Steer Clear - They are a bait and switch company.

We insured our dog with Healthy Paws the day we brought him home in 2015. We’ve stayed loyal for ten years, paying every single month, because we wanted peace of mind if he ever got sick. When we enrolled, our premium was $33/month. It’s been raised year after year — and we accepted that, because pets get older. But today, after a decade of loyalty and barely $1,000 reimbursed total, our premium is being raised to $352/month. That’s more than 10x what we started at. 1000% increase. Here’s the part that feels truly cruel: this notice arrived immediately after we submitted a claim for testing on a newly diagnosed heart condition. For years, while our dog was healthy, we paid faithfully with almost no return. The moment he needs care? The policy becomes unaffordable. This is not insurance — it’s a bait-and-switch. They happily take your money while your pet is young, and once your dog ages or develops an issue, they jack up your rate so high that you’re forced to drop coverage. It’s predatory and it preys on families who love their animals. We’ve been loyal customers for 10 years. To be treated this way, at the exact moment our dog actually needs help, is shameful. If you’re considering this company, please think twice. Don’t make the mistake we did.

Taylor convinced me Embrace was for Tasha, my Maine coon.

The representative was someone who knew what she was talking about. I looked at what benefits were offered and everything looked good. Our kitten was a very expensive one and my husband and I felt that our kitten should get the best policy.

I have no problem with the customer…

I have no problem with the customer service department; they were polite, supportive, and professional... it's the company, itself, that gives me cause for pause. I have been a customer for nine years. This year, when my policy was up for renewal, I saw a 71% rate increase. My pets are healthy and have not had massive claims submitted during that nine year span. The service rep told me the price increase was because of the dogs' ages... that's total price-gouging, imho... I am so fed up... the cost to renew a policy for two dogs was almost $4k per year... WAY more than I spend on vet bills... totally out of control!

The ease of applying

I was able to add my second dog to the Nationwide pet insurance thru my employer. The premium comes out weekly from my paycheck so that I don't have to worry about forgetting to pay it. My 2 German shepards are covered in case anything happens. Nationwide as a company has been great. Haven't had to use the insurance but I would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

This company is the best vet insurance…

This company is the best vet insurance company by far. The process of downloading claims and receiving re-imbursment is fast and efficient. Their coverages are better than anyone else. I am so grateful to this company as they have covered by dog’s illnesses, lab, pathology and surgeries that would be very difficult for me to afford. I can’t say enough about this company. I wish my own health insurance was this good.
