Disgusted doesn’t begin to cover it

We’ve had our dog with embrace since she was a few months old. We had a lower end plan that had a $5k yearly cap, at the time a *vanishing* healthy pet deductible of $750, and no preventative care with 70% reimbursement. Each year dealing with tolerable increases of $3-5 a month. Last year we had our first and only health concern that required veterinary intervention. A small, non-cancerous, fatty tumor(lipoma) that had unfortunately caused some light bleeding through her nipple. We did all of the recommended steps for diagnostics and surgery. Zero complications and back to perfect health minus one nipple. My first red flag of their financial greed was that when I called to submit a claim for the first time I found out that the vanishing deductible was only a few weeks away from expiring and I had not received any correspondence of the change nor an explanation of why. Fortunately we were able to take advantage of it and the claim processed without incident. Then our policy renewal came. We’re slapped in the face with a 100% increase in our monthly premium. It felt like we were being punished for daring to use the insurance we’d paid into for almost 9 years. Fast forward a year to present. Dog is still in perfect health and hasn’t been back to the vet aside for booster vaccine and a teeth cleaning. The audacity for Embrace to not just double but damn near triple our monthly rate for the same mediocre policy was insulting. Cumulatively, a 360% increase in just two years. With one incident in her lifetime. We’ve paid hundreds more into her policy than we requested back. Disgusted doesn’t even begin to cover how we felt. When I called to cancel I was asked if I wanted to adjust her policy instead by increasing her deductible and lowering her coverage which would have effectively rendered it useless and still would have been more than we were paying now. All of this to be placated with the canned “increased costs” message I keep seeing in these reviews. Do better Embrace. Make an effort to fix the issue at hand instead of passing your costs on to the consumers. We’re in San Diego California for anyone worried about their rates going up.

An Outstanding Company

I have been with Embrace for about 3 years. I cannot say enough about the professional, efficient & friendly folks that have been so supportive of my little bestie. The turnaround from making a quick, easy online claim is very fast. Because of Embrace, I truly have been able to sustain Minkie’s quality of life as she is aging. My plan is a 90% - 10% and allows me the freedom to give her the best care possible - at a fair & reasonable price. My rating of Embrace is based upon ongoing outstanding performance on their part. The “Embracers” who handle Minkie’s claims are kind and get things moving fast.

Quick, Easy & Reasonably Priced

I love how easy it is to file a claim with Pets Best. You just upload a PDF of the itemized invoice and receipt to the website and they confirm receipt and immediately issue you a claim #. I don't think I have ever waited more than a week for a response/payment to be made directly into my bank account. If I did have any questions, when I called customer service, I actually spoke to a person and not a series of AI prompts and the best part is that this great service comes at a reasonable cost. I've had the insurance for two years now and the annual increases have been minimal. Hopefully they stay that way!

Sharp increase of monthly fee

As many have posted, they are increasing the monthly fee from $77 to $111, a more than 44% increase! I would understand a 5 to 10 pp increase year over year, but I did not expect such a significant jump in one single year.

Insurance Scam

My plan covers accident/illness. Apparently, a cancerous tumor being removed isn’t enough to have the funds reimbursed. This place sucks. They just increased the plan to $200/month but then only pay 1/3rd of the claim? A $900 claim where our dog would have DIED prematurely if we didn’t remove. Save yourself money and create a savings account. Avoid this Scam.

Mac the Dog

I have used this company for over 15 years. I cannot begin to do justice to how great the are are in relative comparison to the cost. My dog, Mac, was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Pets Best has enabled me to get him the best treatment possible and allow him to continue to live a high quality of life. Through the entire process, Pets Best has been extremely responsive to all my claims and adjudicated them in rapid fashion. They have my highest recommendation.

Don’t Buy

It is terrible denied my claim because they said his symptoms started in the waiting period where I had already paid for the insurance but was not covered???? Even though it did not and I don’t know what that information is coming from seems like a scam do not recommend waisted 100 dollars for the months I’ve been on not to mention it took them a month to process my claim said I needed two years of vet history or my claim would be denied when I just got the dog a couple of months ago

They make cancellation as confusing as possible to lock you in

I fortunately haven't needed to submit a claim for my pet so I cannot speak to how they process claims. However, the rates went from $29/ month to $73 for my single cat. I cancelled on August 28th via email, received a response on September 2nd that the cancellation was backdated 8/29 and yet was charged 9/8 the full premium amount. I filed a complaint with the Colorado AG due to how the company handles cancellations as both California (where the policy was started) and Colorado (where the policy was most recently active) require companies that have autorenewal, allows customers who sign up online be able to cancel online which Pet's Best doesn't offer. In violation of both CA and CO law. To rectify this, I ended up calling in, 1st rep was great, I really wish I got her name because she was wonderful. Second rep Erin had an attitude from the get go like she personally was affronted that I wanted to cancel my account, said she couldn't give me a timeline for cancellation. I obviously had questions, because there hadn't been clear communication on the cancellation process but Erin started getting angry and when I asked her why is she so upset when it wasn't her money she started crying which was crazy. I've never dealt with someone customer facing get so emotional, like out the gate started the call with an attitude. I the customer shouldn't have to ask a rep 3 times to check their tone and not to get upset because a customer has questions. Luckily a supervisor was able to join the call with a clear head, immediately processed the refund and the made sure the cancellation was actually completed effective immediately. Will never go with Pets Best again tbh, I don't want to deal with crazy increases and hard to reach/confusing customer service department. Big shout out to the supervisor Sebastian, he knows how to deescalate and communicate clearly with customers. Erin, please take a few days off and reset, it was too early in the morning to already be that worked up about customers. I'm so serious when I say that the day literally just started.
