100% price increase and little covevage
We got Trupanion coverage for our rescue dog when we got him at age 7. The monthly insurance wiht a high deductible was around $40 per month. The most recent renewal increased the premium to $111, more than double what it was the year before. When I called to ask about the reason for the increase, they gave some weak talking points about how it is based on average prices in the area, and things like new cancer drugs that can be expensive, and spreading risk, etc. Well, prices in my city have not increased 100% in the past year, and I searched for information on some new cancer drug for dogs introduced last year that might account for this (and even so why we woudl all get charged for that?). It is blatantly obvious that they just feel they can jack up prices. Further, in the past year our dog had a surgery, was bitten by another dog, and had a chronic intestinal problem. None of this was covered, so we were out of pocket more than $4,000 with absolutely no coverage by Trupanion. This is ridiculous. We are looking for another insurer now.

I am happy.
I filed my claim online, downloading the invoices available. The last claim was delayed in the review process and I received an email informing me about the status and the claim was approved a few days after. I had an item not approved under a wellness claim, a faecal test which I had not done for the year. I called customer service and they realized that the heartworm test was processed under the bloodwork/faecal test benefit and not the heatworm test benefit, so the faecal test claim was reprocessed and paid. I am quite happy with the claim turnaround and payment. Also, the possibility to discuss and resolve issues through customer service.

Our darling rescue dog is healthy in many ways. She seems to have frequent skin allergies and ear aches in the same ear. The vet and I have been aggressive in treating her with diet, meds, shampoos and exposure to potential allergens. We have submitted legitimate claims for meds and treatments and are quite relieved to know my benefits with you cover the majority of the costs. I wish you had an ongoing purchase discount program for the necessary tick/flea and worm medicines. We are covered a tiny bit under the preventive plan, but goodness those pills are pricey!

Fantastic
Having this insurance for Murray Allowed us to make the best decision for Murray at a very difficult time. It took the worry about cost of a very expensive and potentially life saving surgery out of the picture . As a result we could choose the surgery and save our young dog as initially we were told without the surgery he could not do well. Fortunately once in surgery things were not as concerning as originally thought but the insurance allowed us to take the risk.
