I’ve never had pet insurance before but I got lucky and glad I chose a good one right from from 1st choice

Nationwide has been cost effective, appropriate and caring to the one pet I have on their insurance we’ve needed to make claims.

Pet Insurance has been the best investment ever

I have 2 of my dogs with the pet insurance. I was told to get it when they were both puppies and i am so thankful i did. I recommend it to everyone. It has really helped when the unexpected happens. we have a Doberman who has stomach issues, and seems to eat everything. multiple surgeries have been able to happen because of insurance. it is a great thing to have and i do feel this company is fair and covers more than others. Thank you for keeping my dogs safe and our family at ease with a small monthly cost.

Dogs are penalized for growing old

This company was fine when i joined 7 years ago. Claims were processed quickly and i was happy with coverage. My monthly payment was increased from $112/month per pet to $180/month simply because my shih tzus are turning 12 this year. Many claims have not been covered and those that are take 30+ days. It would be illegal to price gauge humans for aging. They know they have you over a barrel bc no other company will cover a pre existing condition but i refuse to be extorted.

Keep them healthy!

Tinker and Bucky were rescued almost 9 years ago. The past 4 years have been many vet visits and medications. We have been VPI and Nationwide customers for many years prior to their arrival in our home. In fact their policies are coming up for renewal next month at a substantial increase. I understand the need is greater as they get older justifying the increase, however the MAX for the services does not increase. We seem to always "max" out for services! Nationwide does help to an extent, there is still food and medication that is not covered. We did have a few issues a little over a year ago with Tinker's diagnosis of an FCE and her Rehabilitation plan. Most of that has worked out but Nationwide does not cover rehab for an illness? Customer service is helpful when "renewing" your policy but seem annoyed when you call with questions about a statement of benefits question. In the end Nationwide has proven to be a reputable vet insurance company.

Nationwide Pet Insurance has been a lifesaver

Prior to getting my French Bulldog, I did my research and knew there would be risks with this breed and possible health concerns. Although no amount of research could spare me from the emotional torment I have undergone with my frenchie’s illnesses, the one thing I’ve never had to worry about was the cost, thanks to Nationwide. Getting pet insurance is the best thing I could have ever done for my Walter, and for myself.

Don't buy this insurance.

The insurance policy highlights that there is a limit of $3000 per case. However, my dog developed problems with its hind legs, leading to the need of a MRI, followed by chemo therapy. From some obscure fine prints, there is another limit of $1000 for continual care. Hence, I was paid only 1/2 of the MRI cost and nothing for the chemo. I subsequently cancelled the policy after 9+ years of paying premiums.

It takes too long to process claims and send payment.

We really like our policy and all that it covers. Our only complaint is that is usually talks at least 1 month to process our claims. Otherwise you are doing a great job of protecting Tacky and easing our concerns about the cost of treatment for him.

Thankful

Even though my claims weren’t absurd nationwide covered my pets medical bills and gave me peace of mind knowing I only had to pay my deductible.
