I would give it 0 stars if possible
I would give it 0 stars if possible. I did the 30 day trial, and I had multiple claims put in and they didn't cover a single damn thing. This insurance company is a waste of time and money. The only way you can possibly benefit from these insurance companies is if you put your pet under a policy right at birth other than that, you're screwed.

There when you need them
I’ve been with trupanion for several years. This past month both my dogs had serious health issues with significant vet bills. Trupanion processed my multiple claims quickly (average of 24 hrs) and covered most of the expenses. I never had to worry about the estimates at the vet because I knew I was covered with Trupanion.

too much work on my part and one claim…
too much work on my part and one claim and rate went up. seems vca and trupanion dont really work well together on billing then i saw my rate went from 130 a month to 160 after a pre authorization for surgery but "had nothing to do with my dog's surgery". i am thinking of ending my plan as i did it since vca recommended and frankly don't see the two working together well

TruPanion is the best!
I feel so blessed to have TruPanion on my side when it comes to my dogs health. My fur-baby Mila just underwent a surgery for her joint (patella) and TruPanion covered so much of the bill that left me paying a much smaller portion. It only took a short time for them to inform me of my portion on any allowed expense. Thank you TruPanion for making our health visits so much easier!

I purchased this policy through my…
I purchased this policy through my work, for my 2 year old GSD. It sounded cheap at first with payroll deductions but when I added it up, its over $750.00 a year premium, that alot for a 2 year old. The policy became effective in Feb, 2026. In mid february my dog had some black urine that we saw vet about he was diagnosed with anaplasmosis, I didnt place a claim. In march my dog suddenly had trouble urinating where he was mistakenly dx with tick borne disease, then 2 days later was rushed to university vet hospital where he was diagnosed with prostatitis. Between the 2 visits vet bills were over $2000. I put in claims for both vet bills and upon checking status will be reimburses 57.50 for his nexgard. They claim this was a preexisting condition. I'm not sure how this can be considered a preexisting condition he was having no trouble until feb. I plan on calling to fight them for this, I plan on cancelling this policy after I fight them. I didnt get this before in my paperwork but just noticed it on the website explanation of benefits that he is not covered for cruciate or behavioral issues- this was not disclosed at the purchase of the policy. I'll file a complaint with my state insurance board. I would NOT recommend this insurance to anyone, way too pricey for apparently very limited coverage. Update: I noticed that my dog had a cruciate exclusion and he had NEVER had any problem with any of his legs! Sadly I had to put my 2 year old dog down earlier in the week, I blame nationwide partly for this, there were so many exclusions I couldn't have extensive testing done to find out what was causing him such severe pain. It seems Nationwide is NOT on your side.

Not worth the headache
They want a year worth of medical records on your pet. The information they request for a little 800 dollar a year insurance policy is insane. My dog had more coverage without all this extra. It is insane to me that they require more information for your pet then a 100,000 life insurance policy or medical insurance ask for a human. I just don't think it's worth all the crazy emailing of a years worth of medical records. I can get her insurance cheaper and better cone to find out. Insurance that pays the vet directly without all this headache. I just thought it would be easier to have it come out of my paycheck, but really it's more of a headache with less coverage.

Best Pet Insurance
We had the best experience with our representative, Karley G.! She was very excited and happy for us and our new fur baby. She explained our policy very well and patiently answered all of our questions! She got us the best deal and even applied our military discount. We also received quotes from 10 other companies and Fetch offered the most coverage for the best price! Highly recommend!

Can’t afford not to have Trupanion
I have had Trupanion for all of my dogs. I can’t say enough good things about it. Although it is not inexpensive, I can’t afford not to have it. One of my dogs was hospitalized for three days. The bill was about $5k. She was discharged on a Saturday night. I submitted her claim after we got home. The claim was paid Monday afternoon. I can’t recommend Trupanion highly enough.
