Do your research-Buyer Beware
For one having a rescue dog and not allowing 'pre-existing conditions' as an exception is really not worth having insurance at all, especially for my rescue. He has a pre-existing eye condition which require daily drops and you don't cover the cost of the eye drops or his allergy medication. Additionally, having a per condition deductible is not worth having insurance at all. I've been lucky not having many medical issues for my dog, but at $90/month and calculating out the cost per year and for what you end up covering, I'm better off just paying out of pocket. I will be cancelling my subscription.

Great customer service but not happy about my 53.
Great customer service but not happy about my 53.8% premium increase this year. This caused me to go from a $0 to a $150 deductible in order to keep my monthly premium costs affordable. I appreciate that costs go up but 53.8% in one year?! This will have me recommending to my friends and family that they do some shopping around for pet insurance where, previously, I was just outright recommending Trupanion as the best that one could get.

I appreciate what Trupanion has done
I completely appreciate the care Trupanion has allowed us to give our dog. The is the glue that holds us together and we would be devastated if we lost her, especially if it was due to not being able to afford care. Trupanion is affordable and has a no hassle claim system. They give quick pre approvals and are quick do do their fair share. Their call service is also wonderful. They are always friendly and honest. Quite honestly, we all hope that we will not need to use the pet insurance. You may wonder, then what's the point? The point is for those $5,000 emergencies that pop up. When they do, Trupanion will help you through it. I really appreciate it and would recommend it ^_^

The claims experience was not really bad, it's just that I don't feel pet insurance is worth it. I've literally gotten nothing for it.

EASY and FRIENDLY
Healthy Paws makes it so easy to submit a claim- I upload a photo of the vet invoice directly through the app, they review it and direct deposit my reimbursement within days. I was uncertain about getting pet insurance but I am SO GLAD I did as my dog needed ACL surgery and cyst removal surgery. I think it's important to first of all review coverage. Pet insurance does not cover routine check-up and vaccines, They are for unexpected problems. It's also important to realize it doesn't work like human insurance. You pay your vet and then get reimbursed. Once you understand that, you will love healthy paws. The price per month is fair and the coverage, ease, and customer service is great. I have gotten friendly emails after my dog's procedures to check in on him. I highly recommend. I am a customer for life.
