A 30% increase in monthly with a generic explanation (the same as others around the country were given based on social media posts) is not acceptable.
A 30% increase in monthly with a generic explanation (the same as others around the country were given, based on social media posts) is not acceptable. I definitely cannot recommend Trupanion to others and have made my feelings clear on numerous social media posts. I see I'm NOT alone. POOR decision on Trupanion's part and horrible press for the company.

Saved a TON!
Pets Best saved us 2/3 off a huge vet bill when our cat Benny suddenly became very ill. This couldn't have been more helpful during a financially challenging year. Also, I felt more able to have all the tests and procedures Benny needed.

Exorbitant Premium Increases During Pandemic
Premium increases aren't fun, but I understand that's part of the pet insurance industry. However, an increase of 25% per month during a pandemic seems exorbitant. Really frustrated because we've never made a claim with them so far *and* they used to be more flexible regarding premium increases. In 2018, they tried to raise our rates by 25% but lowered it when I called and asked them if they could take it down. It's usually only a couple of dollars. Now it's 10+ dollars every year. The fact that they won't budge on the rate hike when so many people are struggling is really awful IMO. Used to recommend Healthy Paws to every pet owner I met but will no longer do so.

BANK your money instead!
I have been paying pet insurance for 10 years now and I would have been better off saving the money monthly in a bank. I recently made 2 claims and both I am having issues with. One was solved today! They did not pay for the vet call out fee (watch out for this as this is not in the exclusion of the policy, only the exam fee is) and I had to dispute this, and after a few phone calls and a visit to the vet, who made a phone call ( why could they have not called the vet), and they decided to reimburse me for the vet call out fee. I have another outstanding claim which I put in for preapproval in September (my dog’s op was in early October) and I am still waiting for a pay out. My claim, they said was denied because they did not have the final invoice from the vet!! Rather than saying, ‘your application is pending until we get the final bill.’ Needless, to say, I am not happy! My biggest regret is not saving the money- have spent about $15000 so far on pet insurance and both my claims were just over 1000$!! And I will be lucky to get half of it back!

Because in April I change my policy to make it cheaper and in August you raised it $60 without any communication that sucks.

The coverage is good and any communication I have had with your employees has been great.
The coverage is good and any communication I have had with your employees has been great. I just struggle a little with that there is a separate deductible for every illness or sickness and not just anything that happens to pet like human insurance is. And I also think it would help to cover preventative things. It would maybe encourage more people to get insurance and take better care of pets by having financial assistance. And spay or neuter to help control population. Just my opinion.
