1st set of claims, slow and disappointed
It took longer than I expected to get the refund. In addition, I realized that the coverage was not as good as I thought it was. I may change policies after I further research coverage from other insurance companies. I was disappointed.

I had extenuating circumstances in my claim over which I had no control.
I had extenuating circumstances in my claim over which I had no control. For example I needed to call poison control and pay 75$ or the vet wouldn't treat my dog. I also had to go to a second vet because the first one charged 275$ for an exam but didn't have the needed medication so they referred me to another vet that had the medication she needed but they too charged for an exam. I ended up paying for two exams plus the poison control which I had to do or my dog wouldn't be treated. So out of a 700$ bill I got $144 back. That seems very unfair and unreasonable to me, especially since our premiums just went up. I don't think we should pay out of pocket for two exams AND the poison control. I don't see any recourse at this point.

Trupanion's Instantaneous Reimbursement
MY 2 yr old Griffon went in for emergency surgery today. After the surgery our Vet submitted the $1003.87 bill and instantaneously Trupanion paid the Vet directly which was 90% of the bill. Trupanion is a fantastic company to deal with - we don't have to get involved in paying the Vet first and then get reimbursed by submitting all the insurance claim paperwork like other companies. Hands down they are the best - as a extra bonus their rates do NOT increase with the pet's age. Sincerely Dr. Charlie Alexander

Since joining 3 years ago I've added a second dog and continue to experience excellent customer service any time I've need to call. Everyone I've spoken with had been extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Claims were paid directly to the vet so I didn't have to pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement. Monthly premiums and deductible options are affordable

We spent more time with our sick dog!
Trupanion saved us time and money and worries as we were able to say yes to the Vet .Our dog had to get emergency ultrasound and CT Scan blood work and overnight stay. In the end there was nothing they can do as our dog was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer they let us take our beloved dog home and let him die at home. He died three weeks later. Trupanion is a lifesaver. It let us have more time with our dog and time to say goodbye. Our dog Sheldon is forever in our hearts he lived just shy of 8 days of his birthday he would have been 6 years old. He was a sweet gentlemen well loved fur baby. We will miss him so much our house is so empty and quiet.

A true life saver!
Wellness vet visits alone are expensive. Then add visits for an allergic skin reaction, and x-rays for a limp, and then an expensive knee surgery with rehab therapy, oh my!! And all kinds of things in between. And now it's $10,000 later in a 12 month timeframe. Luckily we're fully insured! One decision I never regret, year after year.
