Healthy Paws is Paws down, the best insurance company out there!

Healthy paws insurance company is truly as great as advertised. They are honest, hassle free and good to their word. My dog recently had a major knee surgery due to an injury and simultaneously suffered an eye injury. We took our dog for the medical procedures and treatments and afterwards, it was so easy to submit the medical paperwork via the claim online, I initially thought, surely there has to be more to it than that, it can't be this easy. Within a few days, I received an email that my claim was being processed, then within 10 days, I received a check for the appropriate level of reimbursement. Healthy paws insurance was the smartest decision I ever made because they were so easy to work with and it took away the stresses of the financial burdens allowing us to concentrate on taking care of our beloved 4 legged child. Additionally, an insurance customer service rep, personally reached out to us to check on the welfare of our dog. This meant to the world to us and we really appreciated that they actually took the time to check on us assuring us that they will do everything they can to support us. Healthy Paws is truly a class organization. My wife and I even joked that our dogs have much superior medical coverage than even what we have. Thank you Healthy Paws! Please don't change a thing!

Slow in paying claims

I like that you pay for illness/wellness including heart worm and flea protection. My gripe is the turnaround time for payments. I faxed in 6/12/18 and received notification of payment 7/3/18. I have previously used another pet insurer and their turnaround time was less.

So helpful, caring, and thoughtful through difficult times

My 3 1/2 year old AmStaff needed knee surgery. Obviously I was upset and concerned for him, but remembered that I at least had pet insurance and that should help my walled! I called ASPCA to review my policy, see what was covered, and ask how to file the paperwork. Their paperwork is easy enough to download online, and mostly easy enough to understand as well. I had questions about filing for a pre-approval, and the woman I spoke with was so kind and helpful and wished me and my dog well and was genuinely sad and sorry he was going through all of this. The pre-approval came back quickly, and everything was as explained. Once I received the paperwork from my vet, the vet sent everything to ASPCA and filed for me directly which was a huge help as well. Within the same amount of time as the pre-approval (maybe a week or so) I was notified that everything was approved/accepted and that I would receive payment. The online system is so easy to use that I wish I had thought to sign up for direct deposit, but the check came fairly quickly. I also did not have to log in to stalk the status of the approval since ASPCA emails me whenever new information on the claim is available. All around, great pet insurance. I wish I never needed it, however it's so nice to know they're here for me and my dog!

Too much stress

It takes a lot of work to get a payment for your claim. I have to call and call and it's very stressful.

Prompt response

Cody recently had a hot spot for which he had to see the vet. I submitted a claim for the visit and received prompt reimbursement. So far Nationwide has been responsive and very user friendly.

Easy Claims Processing

I love the ease of submitting my claim information right from my phone and having the benefits direct deposited into my account. It doesn’t get easier than that!

Great insurance

Love recouping 90% of my costs. You can receive reimbursement electronically which is nice. However, there are extremes on the timeline of when you receive reimbursement. It ranges from 1 week to 3 weeks later. I really like this product. I'm waiting for the day they reimburse the vet directly like with human insurance.

Faster Processing

Faster processing of claims would be nice. My dog’s foot was completely healed by the time I received payment. Also a texting a claim option would be ideal. Just snapped a phone of the claim and receipts and be done. I’ve tried with the email and the attachments always get rejected.
