TRUPANION IS A SHAM
Today I cancelled my pet insurance policy with TRUPANION. I have been paying monthly premiums for my northern breed dog since he was a puppy. He is now almost 17. Over the years, the premiums have increased from time to time. I think I was originally paying around $35 and now it is up to about $69. Not too bad for a 17-year time span. Fortunately, Sammy has been an overall healthy dog and I can count on one hand the number of claims I have submitted over the years. Of course, because the deductible is "per disease", I have received $0 in payouts. This past week, I received a notification from Trupanion stating that my monthly premium was being increased from $69 to $94. THAT IS A 35% INCREASE! Now, when my pet is old and I really need the insurance, they force a 35% premium increase. When I called to complain I was told that "the cost of veterinary care has increased." As a veterinarian, I am well aware of this fact but NO WHERE have costs increased by 35% in one year. TRUPANION is a sham of a company, ripping off pet owners who are already struggling to provide medical care to their pets. They are an embarrassment to to the veterinary profession. Please boycott this company and tell your friends to do the same.

Claims rejections & Non Existent Customer Service
CLAIMS REJECTIONS: I submitted a small claim for diagnostic bloodwork, that is explicitly covered in my policy ("diagnostics performed by a Veterinary provider... such as blood tests"). NON-EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE: I tried the in-app and website chat functions, which were malfunctioning (both times I tried them 2 weeks apart) I tried to call the customer service line... and never was able to get through to a representative after spending 30+ minutes on hold. I finally gave up on the phone call and wrote an email to pet_info@metlife.com... 12 days ago and still have not received a response. Lots of functionality in the app for things that benefit Metlife (updating payment methods, uploading documents, etc), but nothing that supports the customer experience. I am truly amazed at how poor the customer experience is, how challenging it is to get even a small claim approved, and I will definitely be canceling my pet's policy with MetLife as soon as possible.

Filing a claim is very easy, communication updates are great and everything they say they will cover is covered. I found this to be true of our last dog as well.

I cannot begin to say how much this policy gives me peace of mind. It is hard enough to have you baby sick in the hospital without having to worry about how you will pay for it. I was recently laid off in December and the stress of having a sick pet on top of it was terrible. Thank you to your staff for always taking care if things smoothly and always putting your customers and their babies wellbeing first!

Healthy Paws has been there for our German Shepherd Lacey, whenever she has faced medical challenges. She had to have emergency surgery in 2023, and another emergency surgery in 2024. It was a blessing not to have to worry about the bill, and to not allow the question of "finances" to play a role in either decision. After each procedure, Healthy Paws reached out to check on Lacey and showed true concern for her well being. Highly recommend pet insurance, for peace of mind when you need it most.

I appreciate how responsive Pets Best is for the claims I've had to file for both of my pets over the last year. The site is easy to.navigate and the claims process is easy & efficient. Reimbursed funds deposit directly to my bank, so all i do is scan & upload invoices from my vet & Pets Best does the rest! Highly recommend their plans.

My little min pin Lily has had a variety of health issues and takes a few medications. Pets Best Ins has been amazing in processing her claims and refunding me my portion in a timely manner. They provide email updates if there are any delays and notify me if any additional information is needed. They are always friendly, compassionate, and helpful over the phone.
