The best insurance out there
I adopted a retired working dog almost 2 years ago, I looked into pet insurance which I had never gotten before on any of my previous animals, and boy am I glad that I did. 6 months after adopting Quimby, he became very ill, diagnostic tests alone cost a fortune, and with the surgery and hospital stay the bill was a little over $10,000 luckily Embrace and the hospital I took Quimby to were able to come to an agreement so they the hospital could direct bill Embrace, the entire bill was covered with no hassle, I only had to pay a fraction of the bill. Fast forward to a year later and Quimby has another issue where he needs surgery, another $10,000 and it was covered no hassle. This pet insurance company is the absolute best, and the best decision I have made reguarding the care of my dog, I will never go without paying for pet insurance!

I have been insured with VPI (Nationwide) for years and currently have our 4 companion animals insured with Nationwide. I wouldn't be without it. Max was throwing up repeatedly last Saturday afternoon. He threw up at least 4 times. I called the U of Mn ER and they told me to wait 4 hours and see how he was doing. He threw up within the 4 hr timeframe. I call the U again, and they recommended that I bring into the ER. He was dehydrated with a fever and a very sensitive stomach. The U gave him anti-nausea meds and fluids. He was on a restricted diet for a few days and I have slowly weaned him off of it...back to his normal food. Unfortunately, he now has diarrhea, and I will call his regular MD this morning. I am hoping that she will just give me a prescription. A big thanks to all the good folks working at Nationwide. You are wonderful, caring animal people. :) Chris

I am so impressed with Embrace. Peppy, our sweet Daschund went paralyzed in her back legs and the only thing that could save her would be an extremely expensive surgery. They were truly compassionate from my first phone call and the claims process was so easy during such a stressful time. We received reimbursement within a week and they also covered any rehab that she needed to walk again. I can not thank them enough for bringing the Pep back in her step and making the entire family happy again plus helping us not go into financial debt!! Amazing company and I always recommend to any pet owner!! Even our deductible was waived because she was healthy without claims for many years!!!

Claims processing takes too long
Although I am happy with the end results going through the claim process for the first time was disappointing. It took over two months and required me to submit entire medical records. It’s a good thing my dog is a puppy otherwise the records would have been very long. And being that she is a puppy how much pre-existence likelihood was there for her issue? Right now I’m on the fence about recommending your plan to others.

Fluent English/Speaking Customer Service
Since 2010 when I became a client of Trupanion, every (EVERY) single time I have needed to contact Trupanion by telephone about various situations (mostly regarding the request to juggle my payment date around because I was out of steady work for 3 years), I consistently had the opportunity to speak with a POLITE, ARTICULATE, ENGLISH-SPEAKING HUMAN BEING that is clearly a legal resident of The United States of America!! Never once have I heard the words “Press 1 for English” etc., etc. Toward that point, if the customer care representatives are all on other calls, there is never a recorded message with robotic instructions. No annoying music while on hold. This is the kind of Customer Service I want to do business with in America! Everything I have stated seems to be a way of the past these days. Being out of work for an extended time became increasingly frustrating when 99% of the time bill collectors were calling me from India or Thailand. I know what foreign country these illiterate bill collectors were calling me from because I asked them. I am now gainfully employed and am grateful that even though I was unable to afford my own health insurance for a couple of years, I was able to keep my Trupanion premiums paid because Trupanion is a compassionate and honest company that wants to provide excellent service. I have only filed about 10 claims through the years, but each was paid quickly. Those who leave negative reviews are most likely not reading the “rules” before they join Trupanion.
