I wish my personal health insurance was this good and easy
I'm so pleased with how easy it is to submit and resolve a claim with Nationwide Pet Insurance. I've submitted several claims through the years for my cat Gus, the most recent in November 2018. The claims submission process can be done very quickly (in a matter of minutes) and the claim can be submitted digitally. Nationwide communicates the status of the claim at every step of the way. And the claims payment is always received in a reasonable amount of time. I am so happy with the level of service and ease of use that I added my other cat to my policy last year. You won't find a better pet insurance provider.

Trupanion helped me saved my cats life
This time last year, my cat Hunter, went into liver failure. He was 3 years old at the time, living, eating and drinking completely normal. He had absolutely no symptoms or indications that he was falling ill - but when it happened, it happened fast and he was gravely ill. I brought him in for his annual blood work (required as he is on medications for his Feline Hyperestasia Syndrome which is a whole other “Trupanion rocks” story.) The next day when his vet received his blood results, his ALT was 5000. Normal reference range for this is 10-100. We were all in shock. Immideatly brought him back in, had him examined and set up on IV fluids straight away. Called for an emergency ultrasound to have his liver and other organs looked at in depth. He was maintained on IV fluids and many many medications for 3 days with new blood work being run every day to ensure his liver values were coming back down. He had further complications because he has spinal issue that prevent him from realizing he needs to urinate. Because he of this, he had to be sedated two of those days and have his bladder drained for relief. After a week of intensive care, we thought he was in the clear- until one of his blood panels came back showing anemia. Meaning he had blood loss from somewhere. Following this he was transferred to the emergency/specialty hospital to be maintained and monitored for the weekend by board certified internal medicine and critical care specialists. He had another ultrasound and many more blood tests. Once his anemia was under control I was able to take him home. The specialist felt it was a toxic event (he had seen a similar case before that presented with almost identical blood panels - high alt and then a week later, anemia) and did not expect further issues for Hunter. After a few weeks he completely normalized and was back to my healthy, happy, sassy cat. Just that week and a half of care costed around $6000. Which, because I have a 0$ deductible for him, I only paid my exam fee, 10% co-pay and tax. Even better yet - they direct bill with not only my general practice, but with the emergency hospital too. So I did NOT have to pay and wait for reimbursement. $6000 is NOT something I would ever be able to “come up with” . I would have never been able to pull him through that without Trupanion.

Most amazing company I have ever experienced!!
Truly the best, most amazing company I have encountered in my life. I spoke to several people and each and every one of them was compassionate, understanding and took care of what needed to be done. They were through in explaining what was happening and was able to get a pre-approval for the process I was going through. This was one of the hardest things I have had to deal with and Trupanion made it SO much easier! I have and will continue to sing your praises as well as recommend you to friends, family, other dog breeders etc. Truly astonishing in this day and age to find such an amazing company. Thank you!!!
