BEWARE, DO NOT SIGN UP
Trupanion was a true disappointment and if I had the time I would take them to small claims court and strongly believe I would win. We signed our 8 week old puppy up right away, followed the rules to a T of everything trupanion required. About a week later our little pup ingested a rock which caused her to get sick. We informed our vet we had pet insurance so they did every test under the sun.. xrays, etc. We filed a very straightforward claim, and after 2 weeks we were denied on all parts of the claim. It stated we missed their waiting period- which was not true. I called, spoke to a rep, and they mutually agreed. Then they send another letter, finding a different loophole not to cover: some how my puppy ingesting a rock and causing her to vomit fell in their “pre existing” category. It was a long, time consuming, miserable process. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!!

Not worth it.
Nationwide kept saying I only had a $50 deductable for my dog and her cancer treatments. Don't believe them EVER! They just paid whatever they felt like and I was not reimbursed properly. I tried to call and complain, yet they didn't seem to understand anything. They didn't seem to understand a tumor and cancer are the same thing. It didn't seem to matter to them that we are trying to save my son's service dog. They just want to deny claims instead. So frustrated!

The claims process was very easy
The claims process was very easy. I uploaded the documents, was able to check the status on the website and when the claim was completed the EOB was emailed to me.

Had to file multiple claims
The only thing I did not like was that I had a follow-up appointment with our regular doctor after the emergency room visit and the computer system would not let me upload any more files related to that claim. I had to open up another claim which should not happen. You should be able to add all documents to the existing claim even though payment was issued. thank you
