Stay Away from Pets Plus Us

This was a waste of three years of premiums. Difficult to get through on the phone lines, evasive responses to deal with claims, refusals to pay out anything on claims, and then slapping 'temporary exclusion conditions' on the file. They want you to produce all kinds of paperwork, but they won't provide you with their own. I'm going back to my last insurer Trupanion who was easy to deal with and honest about their coverage and in communicating with customers. On top of that Pets Plus Us tries to use scare tactics to keep you from cancelling and going to another provider. Wish I had known about Pet Insurance Review before switching three years ago. Stay away from Pets Plus Us.

I'm in as a customer, but the paperwork coming back after a claim does not always make sense anymore, will have to call,

I am a long term customer, many dogs, I still am satisfied, although I hear people rave about Trupanion. I recently had a fairly big claim (around $6000) processed, and I will have to call as to why 90 percent of it after deductible wasn't paid. The key word is "eligible", and I am a little concerned that give you some wiggle room different than your advertising.

Great company, great service, great transparency

Great insurance company -- very clear about what they cover (and what they don't). My young dog has (unfortunately) had a variety of health challenges and Embrace has been fantastic. They process claims quickly, keep you updated about any delays (usually the result of them needing more information from a vet's office), and respond promptly to inquires. They are very clear upfront about what they cover, very clear about exclusions for pre-existing conditions and what would be considered pre-existing, and very clear about other exclusions. Customer service is excellent and I cannot say enough good things about their integrity.

Excellent service

It was very easy to file a claim for my pets hospital visit. They were able to reimburse me for what my policy said was covered. I am very satisfied with my experience.

Bureaucracy and false sympathy

When we got our dog, we figured we needed to do a bunch of things to take care of him. Getting insurance and signing him up for a vet seemed among the most important for his health. We did both but unfortunately we didn't think to wait to go to the vet for 30 days after signing up for the insurance. Trupanion has a 30 day sort of waiting period after you sign up. The vet told us that Hugo (our dog) had a heart problem, and eventually it turned out that we'd need him to have an $8000 surgery. Trupanion said that because we went during the 30-day waiting period they wouldn't cover it. Had we just waited for some days until the period ended, presumably they'd have covered it. The lesson I'd say, is if you're with Trupanion--they want you to avoid seeking medical care for your pet until their bureaucratic rules complete their term. On the other hand, they offered plenty of faux sympathy. If you value that, then be sure to make your monthly payments.

Easy!

Submitting a claim is seriously so easy. It takes less than 3 minutes, and the claims are processed fast. I even got a thank you call after I received my reimbursement. Can’t ask for better service than that!

Professional and courteous customer service and reasonable turnaround on claims. I also appreciate the consideration to remove a pre-existing condition from Ranger’s account. I really feel as though Nationwide genuinely cares about my pet. Thank you!

So glad I made the choice of ASPCA.

So glad I made the choice of ASPCA pet insurance. I have a 5 year old Yorkie and had to use the insurance that last year. He developed a medical issue and needed surgery. It was easy to make the claim ( all on line) and I even got a call back to see how Bernie was doing. Never got that from my own insurance. Was so easy to enroll and make a claim on line. And I always got the answer I needed when I called for information. Always polite and willing to go the next step if needed. I always promote ASPCA when talking with my friends with pets. I would not change.
