Spot Pet Insurance Finds Every Excuse Not To Pay

My experience with Spot Pet Insurance was an absolute nightmare once real veterinary expenses started happening. Collecting premiums every month was never a problem for them, but the second claims were submitted, the company suddenly became experts at twisting unrelated medical issues into “pre-existing conditions” to avoid paying. What made this even worse was the complete lack of transparency. Claims were denied with vague, generic explanations instead of clear evidence or detailed reasoning. Multiple unrelated conditions were lumped together under broad assumptions, and requests for line-by-line claim reviews or specific policy justification were met with canned responses that answered nothing. The entire process felt designed to frustrate customers into giving up. Instead of helping during an already emotional and financially stressful time, Spot created even more stress through delays, deflection, and blanket denials. The marketing promises and the actual claims experience felt like two completely different realities. If you are shopping for pet insurance, do yourself a favor and research companies with a proven history of honoring claims fairly. In my experience, Spot was far more interested in protecting payouts than protecting pets.

Quick and fast service for my Dane

My Dane got bloated, they were quick, easy and processed multiple claims. One claims they processed within 17 minutes. The money was transfered to my bank a couple days later. When your going through something like that, the last thing that needs to be on your mind is how can I afford this.

Pet's Best is the perfect name!

My 3 year old Cavachon, Charli, has been suffering from stomach issues (nausea/vomiting) every morning for the last several weeks. So far, she's had 3 visits to our veterinarian and one visit to the ER. After blood tests, they found her Cortisol level was low, so she needed to be tested for Addison's Disease. The results were negative, which is good, but now she may need get an ultrasound as we are still seeking a diagnosis. I am sick with worry because I love her so much. However, having this incredible insurance has definitely eased some of my stress. All of these visits and tests are SO expensive, but knowing Charli can have whatever care she needs without tremendous financial burden is a great feeling. I filed 3 claims within the last 2 weeks and have already received reimbursement for all of them. Thank you SO much! PetsBest truly is the BEST!!"

They came through!

I got Pets Best Health insurance the week I adopted my 12-week Lab mix puppy — best decision I ever made, as it turns out. A few months ago she started walking funny. X-rays revealed significant hip dysplasia, which felt like a gut punch for a dog not even two years old. But plot twist: her hips weren't actually the problem. Her two blown knees were. Both of them. On a puppy. Because apparently she decided to go big. After consultations with two vets, more x-rays, and some genuine soul-searching, I went ahead with a bilateral TPLO — both knees, done right — because she deserved a pain-free life, not a lifetime of managing discomfort. Then I braced for the insurance battle. I'd fully prepared myself for the runaround: denied charges, fine-print surprises, the whole thing. Instead? Pets Best paid exactly what their Explanation of Benefits said they would. Every line item. No drama. I'm genuinely floored. Georgia Mae is going to be just fine — and apparently, so is my faith in insurance companies. At least one of them, anyway.

Experience as a veterinarian..

Experience as a veterinarian.. Let me start off by saying I am a licensed veterinarian. I use embrace for my two cats, one of which was one year old, and recently suffered an extremely debilitating disease course, consisting of diarrhea, weight loss, lethargy, and anorexia. We tested her for every disease under the sun. She, as with almost every kitten or puppy, had worms and bacterial diseases when she was pulled off the street from which she was rescued. She was treated and made a full recovery. Embrace skimmed through her records to say that because she had GI problems when she was young, this was considered a pre-existing condition (of which she was cured.. and had a completely unrelated, not similar at all disease one year later), and denied my entire claim , even after providing evidence that the diagnoses were completely unrelated, INCLUDING necropsy testing results. On top of this, it is almost impossible to get in contact with anyone on the phone, and when you ARE able to reach someone, its usually someone who has zero clue what they are talking about, and they need to redirect you to someone that isn't even working. I plan on cancelling my plan for my remaining cat, because I'm sure that whatever happens, they are going to do all they can to take months to respond to a claim and deny, deny, deny. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Doubled rates Hidden coverage change details.

They recently more than doubled my monthly premiums so I called and made changes to lower my premiums. Less coverage, bigger deductible. They wouldn't refund any $ for that first month so I figured we had same coverage for that first month any my portal still showed my pet at $100 deductible with 90% reimbursement. New details start 6/3. Well......nope. In a recent claim, they took out the higher deductible and reimbursed at lower rate for my pet's ear infection without giving me a refund of any of the larger premium for May. Their own portal still showed my old deductible and reimbursement rate for this month but when I called I was told too bad. Nope you get lower coverage immediately when you change anything to lower your rates but we still keep your extra money for the first month, Their EOB was totally wrong also. Showed 90% reimbursement rate but they didn't use that. They also didn't show any deductible taken out nor did they credit it on my pet's portal. This feels like stealing from your loyal client customer base. The agent today when I called said there is language in the portal stating this will happen when you make changes. Buried with lawyer speak no doubt. Oh and the notice of my much larger premium arrived in my email AFTER my renewal date.
