Excellent care and claim processed quickly
Our dog was suspected of ingesting a Christmas tree ornament. She was trembling, vomiting and clingy. Our vet took us in right away and took good care of our dog. Xrays and blood work were done. This was right before the busy holidays. The claim was processed and paid quickly.
Really Appreciate MetLife
We adopted a Great Pyrenees and immediately purchased wellness and sickness/hospitalization insurance for him. Later, he became ill. We are so glad we had pet insurance. MetLife took about 29 days to pay the claims but they did pay them. We thought initially it would take 5-15 days and were a little frustrated but the contract does give them 30 days. The bill was pretty large and we were very satisfied concerning the insurance coverage payment. There was no fuss; the representatives were very helpful; and we are so glad we purchased the insurance from MetLife. It is a smart decision. We will absolutely continue the coverage throughout our pet's life. I have the experience of having a beloved pet without insurance and he needed each hip replaced and just caught everything - but he was an angel and it cost us a lot over his life. This is why we immediately insured our GP and it's been a great decision. We highly recommend MetLife.

Biggest waste of money
After paying $75-$105 monthly for my dog since I brought him home almost 10 years ago and NEVER needing to make a claim until his very last day I am so disappointed in what a waste this was. I was happy to pay as I didn’t want to worry about finances in an emergency and wanted to ensure I could help my dog. Well, with never missing a payment and only having a $200 deductible, Trupanion paid out $89 in my dogs end of life emergency. Oh, and they don’t cover the cost of cremation/burial, which I was told they did when I signed up! You’re better off putting your money into savings and holding it for a raining day as I feel like I threw it away!

Tried multiple companies and spot has been the best
I don't have much to say except that I've been with a few pet insurance companies over the year, and Spot has been one of the most cost-efficient (especially for our older dogs) and has been one of the easiest to process claims with. As expected, new conditions took a little longer to process (a couple weeks) because our vet needed to submit copies of medical records - but otherwise, the claims are started via the website or their app and submitted within minutes, most claims are completed within days, and they're directly deposited to my account. The entire process is smooth and the UI works great.
Over $400 in charges. only $60 paid
On a $400 claim, Pets Best denied all but $60 saying "wellness maximum benefit exceeded." These were claims for January - when did I exceed my annual maximum benefit for the year? Also, it doesn't appear the unpaid expenses were even credited toward my annual deductible - what a rip-off.

Miracle Pup
Our sweet Catahoula leopard dog, Odin, was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma this past June. My husband and I were devastated with the prognosis we got. He's my soul dog and I knew I needed to do anything and everything I could to help him, and because we had Pets Best, we were able to take on the challenge of fighting this aggressive cancer. We have been able to work with a surgeon in the Lehigh Valley Region of Pennsylvania, an Oncologist near Philly, and of course our primary vet in the Poconos, to get him as much help as possible. In June, we were given 1-3 months with our boy. I am so grateful to say that he is doing so well 6 months later and beating all the odds! If it wasn't for Pets Best, we would not have been able to do all that we have for him. I don't like to think about the decision we would have had to make without knowing that Pets Best had our back throughout this process. Because of this, I will never not have my pups on their insurance plans 🤍 thank you endlessly for helping up through one of the hardest times of our life. Odin sends so many face licks and tail wags 🐾

Not your typical deductible
This company skirts over the fact that your deductible is used in an untypical fashion. For a $1300 bill, they only covered $49. My deductible is $1000 and I pay 20% of the bill that’s covered. The issue is that they calculate the 80% they pay first, put your deductible towards that, and then reimburse so it’s a much smaller reimbursement than typical insurance would do. I’ll be switching back to Embrace even though my premium will be a little higher.

Healthy Paws - Claim Reimbursement
I have had Healthy Paws insurance for 6 years and had never filed a claim. Recently my labradoodle had a GI infection that required a few visits to the vet hospital. After the visit I logged into the Healthy Paws site to file a claim and was very surprised to learn how easy it was to submit a claim. I believe I received a message that my claim was approved within a week and a week later had a check for the amount. I highly recommend Healthy Paws for your pet. If something significant should happen to your pet it is nice to have the piece of mind that there is some coverage and financial reimbursement for the visits.

Read the fine print
They sure don't tell you they're going to keep all of your money for the deductible. There really is no reimbursement it's a crock.

very broad pre-existing condition
As a former Petsbest customer, I strongly advise other pet owners to steer clear of this insurance provider. My two-year experience with them was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Their definition of "pre-existing" condition is so broad that it will be very difficult for you to get reimbursement. The diarrhea-related claim I submitted took 5 months to process, and at the end I got an email saying my claim was rejected because they did not receive necessary medical information from my vet, while I feel they could at least inform me about this so I could contact my vet for the needed info. I then called to cancel the policy, but the representative of course tried to keep me on the policy and said they could re-open the claim for me. This time after two additional months, my claim was denied again, because it was a "pre-existing" condition as it had happened once before, when my puppy was 2 months old. As such, I was told all future GI-related issues will be considered preexisting condition and will not qualify for coverage. I feel that is very unreasonable, because a two-months old puppy just transitioned out of the breeder's home to me, the diarrhea could be caused by entirely different reasons, such as changing kibbles, environment. And the medical record supported this because my doctor didn't find anything wrong at the time, no parasite or virus after a panel check. The representative I spoke to on the phone, Richard, was also very rude and impatient when explaining the outcome to me. After faithfully paying premiums for two years, I have nothing to show for it. Petsbest's lengthy claim processing times, questionable denial practices, and subpar customer service make them an unreliable choice for protecting your beloved pets. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for pet insurance.
