Reimbursement Shouldn’t Be This Difficult

I ordered a six month supply of Simparico Trio (a routine medication) for my dog. I supplied copies of what I was given on my online order. I made several attempts to provide what was asked. Each response was I had not provided enough documentation. I made three trips to my vet asking for more documentation. They said MetLife never contacted them even though their email to me stated they did. My vet did not know why MetLife was being so particular. My vet supplied me 18 pages of documentation which I forward to MetLife. Still not good enough and kept threatening to close my claim. This ordeal made me think twice about staying with MetLife. So definitely this was not a positive experience.

Worst insurance ever

Worst insurance ever. They don’t reimburse for anything. My dog was insured and I was told my coverage included end of life expenses but when I submitted the claim they said my policy didn’t cover it. It was bad enough that she passed and having your insurance deny reimbursement was a kick to the gut. Do yourself a favor and get any other insurance! Get Nationwide or Lemonade…. Anything but this company.

Peace of mind when you need it

I kept Spot for years when I didn’t need it for the unfortunate moment recently when I totally did need them. Thank heavens I did. They processed my claim promptly, which now allows me to invest in some rehab for my poor pup. I might not have been able to afford that if not for Spot. Thanks, team!

First time experience

This is the first time we process a claim. The process was fast and easy. Embrace notifies us that the first claim might takes longer to process but it was just a few days before the claim was approved (teeth cleaning and one extraction). Shortly after, we had to go back to the vet 4 times for ears infection. All the visit claims were processed timely and we are satisfied with the result. Thank you Embrace helping when we need it the most!!!

This is a cheating company!!!

If the system allows, I would give zero or negative score. This is a cheating company. You will never be able to get any reimbursement for any claims. Here is what happened to my case, 1) They keep on asking for more dcotor documentation, but they never told you what was more required. Yeap, they just wanted to run out of 90 days and drop the case 2) Secondly, they never review the case carefully. After I pointed out why the items on my claims not qualified, they admitted there were some mistakes on their side. However, they changed mind again on my first claim because it was barely out of 90 days because of #1. Who gave 5 starts???

Worth the Wait

Uploading supporting documents took a bit of coordination via fax so was finally able to email records and then the claim was reviewed/settled in a fair timeframe. If faxes are still a way to receive medical records I wish there were a better way to confirm receipt of records btwn Pumpkin and my vet. In the end, it all worked out!

RUN AWAY

MetLife Pet Insurance has been the most frustrating and unprofessional insurance experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been a paying customer for years. My premium increased from $145/month to $170/month this year and I’m now paying over $2,000 a year for coverage that they refuse to honor. I submitted a claim for my dog Kalista’s newly diagnosed allergies. MetLife denied it as a “pre-existing condition,” even though: She had no prior allergy symptoms (no itching, no ear infections, no skin issues). No veterinarian ever suspected allergies until the dermatology appointment on 11/21/25. The symptoms MetLife used to justify the denial were unrelated GI issues (intermittent diarrhea), which have nothing to do with skin/ear allergies. When I sent a formal written appeal with complete SOAP notes and specialist documentation, MetLife didn’t even process it as an appeal — they simply misfiled it as a new claim and denied it again without reviewing anything. When I called to fix it, I was told the only way forward was to make my veterinarians fill out yet another MetLife form, despite the fact that the records already prove the denial was based on a misinterpretation of their own policy. This came from an individual who constantly interrupted me and spoke over me. In short: They denied a legitimate claim by stretching the definition of “pre-existing” beyond anything medically reasonable. They ignored a written appeal entirely. They pushed the burden back onto already overworked veterinarians. They’re collecting $170/month while refusing to honor coverage. If you’re considering MetLife Pet Insurance, be prepared for denials, misrouted appeals, and a company that seems far more invested in avoiding payouts than supporting pet owners. I would strongly warn anyone against trusting them with your pet’s care.

Fast and easy reimbursement

My 10 year old Rough Collie has had Fetch/PetPlan for many years. I use the App for my claims. My Vet emailed me the needed information and it was easy to upload the forms in the App. She was treated by the Vet on 12/2/25. It took me a day or so to start the claim. On 12/10/25 reimbursement was direct deposited into my account. I would recommend that before you need to submit a claim you have all your information in the App. All I had to do after her appointment was pick the reason for her visit and add the invoice and the Vet’s notes about the purpose of the visit.
