Worst insurance ever
It is a scam insurance ever. I was offered by my new employer to switch from my pet insurance that I have been happy with for 8 years. I was hesitating, but the sales of Nationwide insurance convinced me that it would be a smooth transition and as long as my dog does not have any chronic preexisting conditions that she has been medically treated or diagnosed before I should have no issues with any of my routine visits and incidents. Well all of that was a big lie !!!! I took my senior dog to a routine care vet appointment as she was due for some vaccinations and a senior panel blood test. And then did multiple other routine care tests as it was All supposed to be covered and included in my policy. As a result: First, Nationwide took over 2 months to process the claim and then after I had to get a manager involved to expedite the process, they denied with an excuse it was a preexisting condition. Never mind that my dog had no treatments before nor been to the doctor for past 2.5 year and in great shape. The reason they said it was pre-existing, as I mentioned to the doctor that I am noticing some walking pattern change and she had fat deposit growth but no treatment was done for that and needed. Which is a normal patient doctor conversation on the routine visits. But Nationwide decided to use that as a medical conclusion of preexisting conditions and denied all of the claims made. So totaled to about $500-$600. Also the routine dental that was supposed to be covered, they did not cover as well as the doctor wrote in the chart as they were cleaning the teeth there was some tar. Ha ha.! If you would not have tar why would you even clean the teeth in the first place!!!??? As the Nationwide manger explained to me, that since she had it before doing to the doctor, it preexisting. Which means anytime you do to the doctor with your pet, it will be pre-existing as the pet shows the symptoms before the visit. But isn’t why you would go to the doctor in the first place???? So everything they sell is a pure lie and a scam!!! Don’t fall for it and lose so much money as I did!!!!

As far as customer service is concerned, I've never had an issue. If I have any complaint, it is with claims.

When I needed coverage last year; Trupanion was very helpful and I was surprised how much was covered for mochas surgery; now that he has to have another I'm hoping for the same great service

I was very disappointed that your Deductible each year applies to each illness and not an annual deductible. I wasn't aware that was how insurance worked.

Kelli was fabulous and followed up with an email. I am getting an amended invoice from the Veterinarian to have a portion of the claim re-processed. To date, I am very pleased with the professionalism and friendliness of your reps. The processing of the first two invoices on this claim was very efficient and all line items were perfect.

Pre-exisiting conditions
In my experience everything is pre existing and if it's a payable claim it's paid up to the amount of the deductible. I stopped submitting claims since it's a waste of time.

Deductibles
Your deductible per incident is costing me more money than a policy I have with another company for another of my dogs. In addition, this is the second time you tried to apply a new deductible for an already-claimed problem. This last time was for a RENEWAL of an Rx. The rep with whom I spoke apologized saying a careless rep misread the claim. I think not. I think your company tries to deny claims or start new deductibles on purpose to save money. I'd be happy to speak to a supervisor. As you see, I have multiple policies with you and don't appreciate this type of treatment.

All claims sent in to Trupanion were handled quickly and efficiently and the staff has always been helpful and polite to work with. GREAT experience always. Payments are made quickly on all claims submitted when the procedure falls under the covered items. Thank You

Invoice
I find your "invoices" VERY confusing and hard to follow. Also, there was a mistake that shorted me approximately $55. Had I not reviewed the 3 invoices for this claim, it wouldn't have been found. I am concerned what might happen if I have an extensive claim, e. g. one that I had for a previous kitty (now an Angel) that ran for several pages and was c. $4,000 total. This shortfall was resolved, but only because I caught it. My $250 deductible was applied twice - - -
