The underwriting process was timely

The underwriting process was timely, a reasonable amount of information about my cat was requested and we received the notice of her policy inception within a couple weeks of the application.

I have had this insurance for 6 years

I have had this insurance for 6 years, had only submitted a few small claims in 2024. Fast turn around for payment. This year my dog was hit by a car, was hospitalized and required surgery. Submitted claims and was asked for medical records from 2020 to 2022. Once they received them they promptly paid out on $21,000.00 worth of claims. Was impressed, and thankful, for the speed of payment on these claims as I live on a fixed income. Would highly recommend Healthy Paws to anyone considering pet insurance

Really read all things related before giving this company your money

I paid six months at $232 for 5 pets because it sounded smart. I have a dog, that has a pre existing condition of a torn ACL. Policy state that they cannot cover pre-existing conditions until you have paid for 6 months. I was like, great.Let's do this. Also, I'd like to mention that this company was sponsored by my husband's union. So It felt legit. We don't make the type of money to really afford that, but we did it. Because we love our animals. So the day after I make my six month payment, I test it out on my oldest cat just because she hasn't seen the vet in some time. Needed some shots. Also a WELLNESS checkup. She is going through this phase though where she will poop or P outside the litter box. Not all the time, just sometimes. She literally taught the other cats how to pee in the litter box. So while we're at the vet, I ask about it. The conclusion he came to, she's probably dehydrated, and it's hard for her to get into the litter box. She's a bit bigger than she used to be.And she's old! Not a big deal that's not why I brought her. But the vet decided to give me liquid prozac to give to my cat to see if that would help with her going potty outside of the litter box. That did not make any sense to me. I'll be honest, so I just threw it away. But I did pay for it, and in fact, this whole experience cost three hundred and fifty dollars, but I thought it's going to be okay because I have pet insurance! Also I got to make sure my sweet baby is healthy. So I turned my claim in. And I wait and wait and wait. Then, I get a message 2 months later saying that the vet Did not write my cat's name on the claim? And I need to resubmit, I also noticed that my wellness claim was turned into behavioral. I didn't do that, somebody changed it! So I resubmitted the receipt for proof and also ask why does it say behavioal issues is my claim? No reply. 2 more months go by and I'm being asked to upload her medical records. Unfortunately, the vet I go to is an animal hospital also, they do not carry files any longer than a year. My cat has not seen a vet in many years. I finally get an email saying my claim has been decided that it is not refundable up to 90%, as stated. In fact, my claim has been denied. Heartbroken, because I really needed that money back. And I was counting on, six months ago. I will tell you that was the biggest waste of money I have ever invested in. I called that day and cancelled coverage. I explained why, there was no trying to help me solve the problem. There was no possible solution to help maybe reimburse the money I put in for no reason. I just made a really bad choice. It sucks

Embrace Insurance

I had never purchased a pet insurance before this dog. I'm so glad I did. Embrace is very easy to work with, claims submission is very easy and if you need to reach out customer service is on point. Reasonably priced. Claims have been paid timely and without issue.

Find new ways to reject claims

Trupanion rejects almost every claim. Last rejection was because did not have recommended treatment within 3 months. Read the fine print before signing up with Trupanion. I would not sign up for Trupanion with new pets.

Terrible. Like every insurance company

This company is just like every other insurance. They will use every excuse they can find to NOT cover a condition. If they worked as hard to help pets be healthy as they did to get out of paying a claim, their patients would be a lot healthier. But instead, they define all pre-existing conditions in the broadest possible terms they can legally get away with. I have far too many examples of this to fit in a review, but I'll give one: They tried to exclude all skin conditions on a 6 month old puppy b/c she first came home to us with fleas and had a few visible bites. If you think that's reasonable, roll the dice on them. Personally, my most recent experience with Embrace was the straw that broke the camel's back to convince me to find a different pet insurance. -------------------------------------- Edit on 3/9/26 to respond to Embrace's total pandering reply: Being unable to cover pre-existing conditions is not what you do. What YOU do is take any mention of any type of symptom and broadex the interpretation to include as much coverage as you possibly can. I have SO MANY examples of this: 1. my dog threw up one time 4 years ago, you let me pay for coverage for a year and THEN tell me you won't cover any GI issues. That's neither reasonable nor accurate. 2. my vet notices that my dog has papules on her skin in her first ever puppy exam -- these were flea bites b/c the place we adopted her from didn't give her the right dosage flea and tick medication. Our vet gave her the right flea and tick dosage and it was gone. But you excluded ALL DERMATOLOGICAL conditions. Go to hell.

The Absolute Best

Where to start? I don’t know what I would do without Healthy Paws! Time and time again, they’ve literally saved my animals lives. From my dog Milo’s emergency foreign body surgery and corrective elbow surgery to my little cat Lucy’s Chronic Kidney Disease treatment, I know for a fact they wouldn’t be here today without you. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Thank you for giving me more precious moments with my babies, and supporting pet parents like me.
