Never recommending to anyone else. What a scam.

I had a very disappointing experience with MetLife Pet Insurance. I purchased a policy for my dog expecting reliable coverage, but when it came time to file a claim, the process was frustrating and ultimately unhelpful. My claim took over 30 days to review, only to be denied under the label of a “pre-existing condition.” This was extremely frustrating, especially since it felt like a convenient way to avoid covering the costs. Even more concerning, the claim was reopened, I was charged for another month, and then it was denied again for the same reason. When I contacted customer service to address these issues, I felt dismissed rather than supported. There was a clear lack of communication, transparency, and accountability throughout the entire process. In a time when many people are already struggling financially, this experience felt especially unfair. Pet insurance is supposed to provide peace of mind, but in my case, it did the opposite. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. I’ve lost trust in their service and will not be doing business with them again.

Affordable and easy to work with

This is an affordable option that has saved the life of my dog! We would not have perused treatment when she fell ill but because I was able to afford this coverage, she is here with us today. They have been great to work with too. Great communication when they needed more information on the claim and payout was timely. Would recommend and have recommend!

Pleasantly Surprised

Spot has made it very easy for me to take care of my dog and not have to worry about paying full price for just basic visits. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with what they cover.

I'd Have Lower Out-of-Pocket Expenses Without the 'Insurance'

BLUF: I will be cancelling this insurance. Why? Because I recently filed more than $8,000 in claims that resulted in a $380 reimbursement. First, the claims took 2 weeks to process -- time that they clearly spent trying to figure out how to reject each individual compoent of each claim. Out of $8308.70 in claims, they paid $380 -- and that's after the $76/month in premiums, totalying $912. One of the claims that they denied was the dog's spay procedure; the reason for rejection was, "The maximum Wellness amount for these services has been previously paid for this policy term." That's funny, as I do not recall having spayed my dog more than once EVER, never mind more than once this policy term. That explanation, "The maximum Wellness amount for these services has been previously paid for this policy term," is repeated over and over and over again in their explanations of benefits, resulting in 7 out of 9 vet visits receiving $0 reimbursements, and a single $4,193 claim -- which included the (one and only) spay procedure -- qualifyiung for $205 in reimbursements. In short, for more $900 in premiums, they paid for less than $400 in claims. I actually would have saved money if I didn't have pet insurance. And this was a year of high vet bills; in a year of lower vet bills, they would presumably pay even less, resulting in more out-of-pocket expense for me. And that is why I am cancelling this insurance (once I receive the $380 that they've agreed to pay).

App Based

I submit any claim from my veterinarian to MetLife Pet Insurance and eventually get a response back either good or missing notes from the vet. Nice my insurance refund is added to my PayPal account. Sometimes a little difficult to find and upload files from the iPhone.

My experience is slow to pay always…

My experience is slow to pay always looking for a way to get out of paying after over 14 years of paying my monthly premium. When I submit a bill they say well it’s eligible for review. Then days go by. my vet sent them a bill directly over half a month ago Trupanion says we’re waiting for information from your vet. My vet says they’ve already sent everything two weeks ago. If you look at the top 10 that insurance companies, Trupanion is not on the list.
