Exactly as advertised!
Website is very easy to use. Our claim was for a planned surgery. Submitted pre authorization which as approved within a week. It only took 2 days from submitting the claim to receiving the reimbursement. I wish my medical insurers were this good.

Take others' negative experiences seriously - find another pet insurance provider.
Guys - don't ignore the red flags/warning signs. Embrace Pet Insurance is as close to being a scam as it gets while still remaining legal. Do not fall for the marketing. Choose a different pet insurance provider! Read the other 1-star reviews - there's a common thread. People pay premiums for years while their pet is healthy, then the moment they need anything from Embrace, they're made to submit copious paperwork, which Embrace's claims agents then go through with a magnifying glass, broadly creating new diagnoses based on small remarks, like "scratched his ear" - oh, all ear infections are now and forevermore pre-existing. "Hind leg looks stiff" - now we will never cover any joint-related issues in any leg. When I talked to my vet about how insane all of this was, he asked me who my pet insurance was, and when I said Embrace, he rolled his eyes and told me to give up and switch, because he's had previous negative experiences trying to appeal denials with Embrace. You can actually get a sample of the type of treatment you will get by reading their replies to these reviews. Even in their replies to Trustpilot reviews, they use carefully crafted legalese - using many words to justify denied claims that, under normal common sense, should be covered. I've learned my lesson the hard way, cancelled my policy, and accepted that the premiums I've paid are gone forever. But if I can help you avoid the stress and frustration that comes with realizing that all the money you've put into Embrace for a peace of mind was for naught at precisely the moment you are most worried sick for your pet, then at least the money had some use after all.

This pet insurance is better than…
This pet insurance is better than others because of how it pays back costs, the amount it pays back, and the deductible. The online claim is easy to use, and processing happens very fast.

Would Not Recommend
I've had insurance coverage with Pumpkin for almost a year, and while the policy looks comprehensive on paper, my actual experience has been frustrating and extremely disappointing. My biggest issue has been Pumpkin’s denial of a claim for what they labeled a “pre-existing condition.” My dog was seen by her veterinarian for a respiratory issue and underwent diagnostic testing to determine the cause. Although she had experienced a similar respiratory issue in the past, that issue had fully resolved on its own. According to my policy, any condition that has been cured and free of symptoms or treatment for 180 days should not be considered pre-existing, and my dog clearly met that requirement. Despite this, Pumpkin denied the claim. I was told I could appeal the decision and that my veterinarian could clarify in the medical records that the prior respiratory issue had resolved. I did exactly that and submitted an appeal with updated clinic notes. The appeal was denied anyway. Pumpkin completely ignored both my explanation and my vet’s updated notes and continued to rely on outdated records. I attempted to submit a second appeal, which Pumpkin initially refused to accept. At that point, I contacted the California Department of Insurance for assistance. This prompted Pumpkin to conduct a third review, but the outcome was the same. Once again, they ignored the facts, my statements, and my veterinarian’s updated clinical notes, and continued to deny the claim based on the same old information. This entire process was exhausting, stressful, and incredibly discouraging. It has left me worried that my dog will not receive the coverage she needs if other health issues arise in the future. My second major issue is the outrageous renewal increase. My premium is going up by 59%. This kind of increase is unreasonable—especially when Pumpkin has already shown they are unwilling to cover significant health issues. At this point, I am seriously questioning whether it’s worth continuing my policy with them. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied and would not consider myself a happy customer.

Don't use ASPCA horrible company
I have worked as a property and casualty adjuster for the last 30 years. I have never had a worst experience than working with this company-I also found out that ASPCA doesn't even own the insurance company, it is run through a 3rd party that uses the naming rights from ASPCA. I had a claim for my dog and they denied it, they said i had filed it incorrectly, I asked to cancel the policy and they told me I needed to file it under a different coverage, I went through all the hoops and they denied it a second time and then refused to refund my policy after I asked that it be cancelled. Don't use this company very shady-I had pumpkin for my last pet-they were fantastic. I'm cancelling ASPCA today.

Clear Accident Denied Despite Video…
Clear Accident Denied Despite Video Evidence and Vet Letter I am beyond disappointed with Pets Best. While we were on vacation, my senior cat suffered a clear, documented accident. We have video footage showing her claw getting stuck while climbing onto the bed. When she attempted to come down again, she fell and hit the floor. As a direct result of this fall, she became injured and unable to access her food and water, which caused her to stop eating and drinking for five days. During that time she became dangerously weak and required multiple days of hospitalization to recover. This was an accident-only emergency. Our veterinarian provided a written letter explicitly stating that the hospitalization was caused by the fall, not by any pre-existing condition. Prior to this incident, Lucky had no symptoms, no treatment, and no clinical issues related to kidney disease or any other condition that would explain her sudden decline. Despite: • Clear video evidence of the accident • A detailed veterinary letter confirming cause • A clear timeline showing decline only after the fall • No prior issues affecting her ability to eat or drink Pets Best denied the claim, claiming the incident was due to chronic kidney disease — a conclusion that directly contradicts veterinary documentation and medical facts. If you’re considering Pets Best, feel free to look at other reviews with similar complaints. Unfortunately, this experience suggests a pattern of denying legitimate claims, especially when significant costs are involved. When you pay premiums expecting peace of mind, you should not have to fight this hard after a true emergency. I would strongly caution pet owners — especially those with senior animals — to think twice before relying on Pets Best when it matters most.
