Embrace Pet Insurance A Partner Who Cares
Embrace Pet Insurance have covered my two sphynx since 2015 and I have been overall pleased with their service and the value for the costs. They have even been able to work with me when work required my extended stays overseas and my cats needed to be seen by veterinarians outside of the USA. My one recommendation for them to improve upon their service is to mirror the prohibition of holding Pre-existing conditions as against pets the way that human health insurance no longer is allowed to do that. Would make getting an older rescue pet much less risky. Especially if I wanted to take on a foster pup.

I had a Siberian Husky transfer over to Trupanion at some point in her early adult-hood because I wasn't happy with a prior insurance experience handling of my other Husky. At first, I was a little upset that she needed teeth extractions that counted as a "pre-existing condition" despite having spent a lot of out of pocket money to do annual anesthetic teeth cleaning for her. In the long run though, trupanion saved us money over time due to the comprehensive coverage with no annual payout limit. While some people are lucky to have dogs that never have cancer or require crazy surgeries, the chance increases as dogs get older and unfortunately we live in a world where just about everything causes cancer. Trupanion helped me make the right decisions to provide care my dog needed without having to worry too much about the financials. Of course, that's if you can afford the monthly premium -- but I do not regret the ease of mind it afforded me. After my pet passed, they canceled our plan for me without requiring me to deal with anything further. They care that their customers don't have to go through "peeling the scab," as I call it. Grieving is hard enough, and trupanion knows not to make it worse. It's a respectable company and I recommend trupanion.

My dog had no Cartlidge in his knees he needed surgery. The surgery was close to $7000. The insurance paid 80% with no problem and I got the check put deposited into my account within three weeks. What a blessing.

10 years, Multiple Surgeries, and Total Peace of Mind
"We signed our English Springer Spaniel up with Healthy Paws 10 years ago when she was just a puppy, and it is easily the best financial decision we’ve ever made for our family. Over the last decade, Healthy Paws has been a rock-solid partner through every stage of her life. Recently, our ESS had to undergo surgery for bilateral elbow fractures, which totaled over $8,000. Within just a few days of filing the claim, Healthy Paws had processed it and covered their 60% portion without any hassle. Beyond this major surgery, they have consistently been there for: Chronic Care: They cover his daily allergy medications and frequent treatments for chronic ear infections. Cancer Recovery: Last year, they covered the removal of two cancerous cysts, allowing us to focus on his recovery instead of the cost. Modern Perks: We also love the added value of the 24/7 virtual vet care via Airvet, which is a huge help for quick questions at any hour. Most people don’t realize that other companies have annual caps of $5,000 or $10,000. With an aging dog who has faced multiple health hurdles, having no annual or lifetime caps has been the difference between providing him with the best care possible and facing heartbreaking financial decisions. If you are looking for a company that actually stands by you for the long haul, this is it."

I now have my third dog insured with healthy paws - that speaks for itself. They are easy to work with, super fast working on claims and wiring / checks. I recently experienced some communication issues as if the left doesn’t know what the right is doing as well as receiving their email notifications. I hope they fix that. The other downside is their age restriction; if a dog is 8+ years old, they don’t offer the same coverage as for younger dogs. That’s a big minus. Otherwise it would be a 5* rating.

Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience with Embrace Pet Insurance. My cat was attacked by another cat inside my home and needed veterinary treatment. I filed a claim expecting the company to review the situation and process it under accidental injury coverage. Instead of investigating the incident, the claim was effectively denied based on an unrelated veterinary note from over a year ago stating that my cat required sedation during a vet visit. Anyone who has owned a cat knows that sedation at the veterinarian is extremely common and does not mean the animal has a chronic aggression problem. Despite this, the company classified my cat as having a permanent “aggression” exclusion and used that as a basis to avoid covering injuries from a fight. What is most concerning is that there appears to have been no investigation into the actual incident. The decision seems to have been made solely based on a selective interpretation of historical records rather than the facts of what happened. Pet insurance should provide peace of mind when unexpected accidents occur. In my case, the claims process felt more focused on finding technical grounds to deny coverage than on fairly evaluating the claim. I hope the company improves its claims review practices so other pet owners do not experience the same issue. March 26, 2026 Update. I wanted to share an update regarding my experience with Embrace Pet Insurance. Initially, my claim was denied based on an “aggression” exclusion, which I believed did not accurately reflect my pet’s condition. After carefully reviewing the decision, I submitted an appeal explaining that the issue was related to anxiety rather than aggression. I am pleased to say that Embrace reviewed the appeal and ultimately overturned the aggression exclusion, recognizing the condition as veterinary-specific anxiety. I appreciate that the company took the time to reconsider the case. While the initial denial was frustrating, the appeal process worked, and the outcome shows that Embrace is willing to review cases. Overall, I am grateful that the matter was resolved fairly after the appeal and that the correct medical interpretation of my pet’s condition was recognized.
