First time having pet insurance and…

Overall it has been positive and straightforward and the app makes it easy to file claims. First time having pet insurance and it's been over a year now with MetLife. I would actually give 4.5 stars if I could because this year my auto-zelle refunds did not go through, with no changes being made to any accounts. And because of that denial, I received paper checks in the mail for refunds. I have set up auto-pay to my checking acct. to avoid that and hopefully there are no issues or denials going forward. I was informed that my Zelle acct. is now no longer an option to receive refunds since it did not go through. Annoying, but their Customer Service has been excellent every time I've called for support. I always get a human on the line, so far. I've also used their online vet-tech when my dog sprained his paw on a Sunday night. It was over text and I sent them pics. They were helpful and convenient.

Easily submitted Claims

With an active dog, we have ear problems every year allergy season hits and she starts swimming in the rivers. With one visit to the vet, we are able to almost meet our deductible, which gives us confidence in taking her in every time we think there's a problem. PetsBest has always been responsive in the claims process, even when they're swamped. And the benefits explanation is easy to understand. Thank you PetsBest.

Very solid pet insurance

I’ve been with Healthy Paws for over a year and I can only say that it’s an exceptional service. They have been quick on reimbursements with typically 24 to 48 hours turnaround once they have the VET soap notes. This is a five star company - and it provides superb peace of mind for the Pet owner. There’s nothing scarier than having your pet present an issue that has never come up before. It would be nice if pets could talk, but having the peace of mind knowing that I have Healthy Paws Pet Insurance takes this sting out. Our little puppy is only 14 months old, but the policy has easily paid it for itself many times over, and Healthy Paws has earned not only our respect, but also the referrals of our friends and family.

Great coverage, horrible customer services reps

I love the coverage and the options to build a custom plan. However, their customer service reps are horrible and unemphatic. I called twice, the second rep was the worst. He claimed I called 4 times and just don't get it (I lost a pet and wanted her coverage terminated, and yes, he actually said I didn't get it). I called twice, he me being transferred as 2 calls, he made it sound like I was an idiot. On top of that he overused my name, making it sound like he was talking to a child. This was all over a dispute about premiums. Apparently, even if they have your premiums for the month, when a pet dies your policy is reworked and you have to pay the new premium RIGHT AWAY while you wait for your refund. Times are hard, I couldn't afford to do that. Finally, it came to light that I could call the day before my premium was to be withdrawn out of my account, they would update the policy and withdraw the new amount. Had the guy started with that when I told him I couldn't afford to pay right away, it would have avoided a lot of hassle. Instead I was treated like a child who just didn't understand anything. Saying they understand is meaningless when they treat you like you are a child. I am not 100% confident they will NOT withdraw my old premium as well. I also sent them an email last week, no response. It wasn't until after my call that suddenly they decided to answer. These are sales people, they don't care. They work on commission. The first guy didn't even tell me I had options to change my current coverage on my remaining pets, he just quoted me about $20 less then I am paying now. Thank you, Metlife, for making a traumatic situation even worse. Update - the Metlife response is a bot. It says the same thing to everyone across all platforms. Calling them caused the nightmare to begin with.

Murphy had a serious reaction to a vaccination which necessitated a trip to the urgent vet. The online claim process at Healthy Paws was simple to complete, they responded very quickly, and our policy helped defray a significant chunk of the bill. I'm very happy with Healthy Paws and heartily recommend them!

Get this:

Get this: I have my two horses insured here for accident/colic. My horse had to have colic surgery and the bill was over $17,000. Guess how much they reimbursed me? $889.00!!! Don't know how or why they denied practically everything! What a joke. Canceling this insurance immediately! I thought having insurance through the ASPCA was the right thing to do since I donate to them regularly. Thought they would be an honest and trustworthy company. WRONG!!! ASPCA-don't bother to reply with an I'm sorry you had a bad experience and to call customer service.

Terrible Pet Insurance Company

Very unaffordable after a couple of years. I cancelled them when they increased my policies over $1,000 in one year and they also didn't cover items they had previously covered. I believe that was due to people not being properly trained. One time I submitted a claim for medication and they said food was not a covered item. It was a medication they had previously covered many times. Terrible company.
