How to Save Money at CCVS Outpatient - Tower Hill

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Incredibly impressed with CCVS! It is a beautiful facility that’s very homey and comforting for pets who I’m sure have tremendous anxiety coming to a sterile veterinary environment. The rooms look more like living rooms than anything and this little change I feel makes a big difference for a nervous pet. I will say I price shopped for dental surgery quotes due to the price increasing substantially since my pets last dental and they are right in line with the market average. This was a much nicer environment for my sweet pup and for me honestly as well. Doctor Stanley has done both of my pups dental surgeries (once years ago at a different location) and he is wonderful. I highly recommend this office for any pet dental procedures.

I will not be able to find the words to describe how wonderful the caring staff and facilities are. From the initial consult in a CLEAN, modern, "homey" room, where Dr. Stanley and Lauran got on the floor to meet and examine our dog, to her surgery holding area with a special "red carpet" yoga mat for traction, comfy bed, and pillow for my precious pup, to the kindness when I called and through checkout, everything was wonderful. We loved the take-home bag with the "Bravery" certificate for my sweet pup. Because of the environment you provide, the stress on her (and me) was minimized, which I know made for the best possible outcome - and she's on the road to recovery now. The entire team loves animals, and it shows. They were extremely patient in explaining the procedure and answering my questions, and that's so important because I was scared and absolutely not processing things well. On the day of surgery, they encouraged me to call and check on her anytime and responded quickly with thorough updates. Take-home information repeated what they'd told me, so I could refer to that - or call - if I had questions. You never want your beloved pet to go through surgery, but it's necessary at times. What a blessing to have this team here in our community. Thank you to ALL who took care of my baby. You have no idea how much it all means to me -- and to all who come to you for help.

I am so impressed with the level of care my sweet dog and I received. This group of people are absolutely amazing, and I will always give them a call if something comes up. Dr. Stanley is so informative, thorough, and compassionate with his care. All of the vet technicians are absolute experts in their field and every single staff member including Dr. Stanley relieved my anxiety regarding the process. It’s not easy taking your pet in for surgery, but these are the people I will choose every time if it comes to it. I will be forever thankful to you all.

My cat had an abscess in his mouth that was detected by my vet. After watching it closely I followed their recommendation to visit Dr Stanley. The whole experience was exceptional. It was costly but in the end it was worth every penny. My cat is fully recovered and acting like a kitten again. The staff was knowledgeable, courteous, prompt in responding, thorough and the communication post surgery and once home… incredible! Thank You.

They treat my dog as if she was their own, she is 100% comfortable there. She comes in and plops down on the couch like it’s her second home. I’m confident leaving her in their hands when I have to run somewhere if her appointment is going to take a bit and I know they are treating her spectacularly. Everyone is so friendly and genuine. I could not recommend a better veterinary office. Not to mention my pup (who has been going there for cast changes) keeps getting amazing artwork added to her cast (lol), it’s very heartwarming.
