I , along with my 7 year old straight Egyptian Arabian with a needle phobia, had the best experience imaginable here. Eye injury requiring an SPL for long-term treatment. Initially, I went to Ocala because it's closer and it was getting later in the day. They took him and then refused to treat him due to his not so sunny disposition. They lacked the sedation capabilities (dart gun) and didn't read my horse at all, only upsetting the situation. Thankfully, UF took us the very next day, on short notice and regardless of claims of an ill tempered horse. From receiving to discharge, we were kept together for all except the actual procedure. My horse was calm and agreeable the entire time and was able to come home with me that day. I was provided everything I needed in supplies, instruction and support, to care for my horse; which turned out to be four and a half weeks to full recovery. His eye is now healed and my horse is better mannered with medical treatments and strangers who smell like hospital for the respectful experience he and I both had. Was it expensive, heck yeah! No more than expected, though. There was a team of specialists and experts at work, which is what I came for. No one took advantage of me or the situation and all treatment options and costs were discussed in advance, with my approval. Fortunately, my emergency fund for horse emergencies was right about where it needed to be. Hopefully, we won't have to come back again any time soon! But, if need be, we absolutely will.

Words cannot express, and hopefully our prayer of praise and gratitude for Dr. Meredith Montgomery who we hope to meet in person one day soon. Her best efforts blessed us with Lucy. Lucy is now a very happy, growing kitty who started out at deaths door before Devine intervention enabled her survival and now thriving life here in JAX beach. Dr. Montgomery is obviously a dedicated professional who is inspired by her gifted soul.

Great place . Not over priced. They really care about your animals and take great care of them while they are in their care. They are straight forward with info about whats going on with your animal. The vets and the techs, assistants all are very nice. Very caring. My goat went in blind and lethargic my regular vet did not know what was going on with her. Come to find out she had goat polio. A thiamine deficiency. She was there a week and then came home. She has made a 100% recovery she is back to her old self. I want to thank Dr. Nelson and everyone at the Animal Hospital for helping Athena make a full recovery. Great People

I’m honestly surprised by some of the reviews on here. My horse had to have major colic surgery in September of 2016. Without the amazing surgeon, vets, techs, students and everyone else that worked with him I honestly don’t know if he’d be here today. My horse had a full 360 degree torsion by the time I could get him there and they had to remove some 10 feet of his colon. The main vet on his case was in contact with me everyday keeping me informed of every step of the way. Today he is healthier then he was before the surgery and happy as could be. He does unfortunately need another non related, non emergency surgery soon and I won’t go anywhere else but UF.

Front desk receptionist(older lady) on 1/28/21 I was sent to the wrong building by small animal vet clinic and was met with cold answers. Did not let me even finish telling her where I was looking for (which was right next door). She just didn’t want to listen. Basically shooed me away, Very rude not a good example for UF. The staff next door apologized for me having to deal with it.
