Over 100% Premium Increase... TWICE! Go somewhere else
I've been a loyal customer for 6 years and today I got screwed by Healthy Paws. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this insurance to any dog owner. I have 2 dogs. 6 years ago, I paid $150 for both, over time they kept pushing up my premium to $230 and today I got an email that they will be increasing my premium to $445. When I called, I was told there was nothing they can do and I need to change my deductible and overall plan. Then I was hung up on when I asked for more alternatives. One of my senior dogs had cancer. He's had multiple surgeries and just finished radiation. I cannot simply move to another insurance company now because of all of his pre-existing conditions. I feel that Healthy Paws is taking advantage of this and trapping me by increasing my premium so drastically. I will be moving one of my dogs to another company since he has no pre-existing conditions and I recommend everyone else does the same. It's been a very disappointing experience.

Throwing Money Away with PetSecure
Been paying premiums for years and made only 1 claim for a single event/procedure recently. Here is a review of the experience: 1. The website is designed to make it as hard as possible to submit a claim. The page does not accept any file format, except small JPEGs, so you have to know how to convert all your PDFs or other documents from your Vet into low quality JEPGs in order to submit your claim online (it took a while). Then you get an email saying you will hear back from them in 2 weeks. Two, three, and four weeks go by and nothing. The website still shows you have submitted NO claims. You can cal them if you have 30min to wait in line for someone to pick up and when they do, they say they got your claim and will be notified by email. 2. No email comes, but after 4 weeks the website is now updated and the claim is marked as "Complete". However, without any explanation, PetSecure rules that more than 60% of the claim is deemed "Ineligible" (it was a single procedure performed by a specialist), another 20% is deducted as "Co-Insurance" (what? I have no other insurance), and after the $500 deductible, my claim is awarded less than 10% of the value of the claim, equivalent to a couple of months of premium. Now I realize I'm not the only one. I should have read the real reviews. Don't bother with PetSecure, unless you like throwing money away!

HORRIBLE INSURANCE!!!
6/29 - If you read the Healthy Paws response to my review, you will see that they just proved everything that I said was true. I sent them a complete set of my pet's records at the end of May, yet they are still asking for the records. If they thought that they didn't have a complete set of records, why would they wait an entire MONTH to tell me so? This makes absolutely no sense! I have also called them several times since I filed the claim and each time they only said that the claim was under review and mentioned NOTHING about needing more records. This whole process has been a huge waste of time and money. 6/26 -Don't waste your money! I purchased a plan for my kitten and I had to take her to the vet because she had stopped eating and drinking and had not gone to the litter box for a day and a half. We weren't sure what was wrong with her so we took her to the vet and they performed test and took x-rays to see if she had ingested something that was blocking her. It was determined that she probably had an injury that was causing her pain and that she stopped eating due to that. I submitted the claim 27 days ago and have heard NOTHING from Healthy Paws. I have called several times only to be told that my claim is still being 'processed'. It is a very simple claim so I have no idea why they are delaying for so long. Especially since their Facebook Page is full of people saying their claims were processed in an HOUR! I have a lot of trouble believing that those claims are actually from real people! I've asked them how they got their claims processed so quickly and so far, no response. If they're fake, I wouldn't expect one. Bottom line is you're better off just setting aside the money that you would spend on insurance with Healthy Paws, in a savings account and paying out of pocket for any vet bills. It's what you have to do with Healthy Paws anyway so you'd actually be saving money!

Fast claims however read deductible clause before buying
Fast claim however this surgery was primarily for a root canal but she had a tiny eye growth so instead of putting her under again another time we had it done at same time at root canal and of course two different things so instead of paying one deductible of 300 I paid for two deductibles even though the eye surgery only cost $148.00. She was primarily under for her tooth. That's insurances for you they find a way not to pay. Going shopping for another insurance company to see if they have better deductible clauses.

We switched from a big-bank insurer to…
We switched from a big-bank insurer to Sonnet, and have loved the ease of making changes, the prices, and the transparency. We have added kids to our auto policies, sold cars, bought cars, all online with no hassle. No claims yet (knock on laminate...), but after 3 years, we're really happy to be Sonnet customers.

Do NOT use them
Do not use them under any circumstances. They did not provide me information on waiting periods before paying. They lied about coverage. They falsely denied a claim saying something which was not a medical condition until April had been documented in December of the previous year (it had not). Their customer service is rude, unhelpful, and takes an inordinate amount of time to get through. Their website is poorly designed and not conducive to human operation of what should be a basic function. Their 'edit claim' function doesn't allow you to actually edit a claim and only to post new attachments, rendering it useless. You are better served taking the money you would spend on them and shredding it. Terrible company that adds no value to the world and will not cover your pets medical procedures.

This is the best pet insurance you can acquire.
This is the best pet insurance you can have. My vet recommended and I couldn't be happier. My 3 year old French Bull Dog got very sick this spring. The quick response from the hospital saved his life. Since he was in the hospital 4 times, the bills were very high. When I submitted the invoices, I mixed up the corresponding claim form with the hospital statement. Customer Service helped me straighten out my mistake and I received the reimbursements very quickly. The Trupanion representative was so caring and helpful. I highly recommend anyone looking for pet insurance to consider Trupanion. They are wonderful.

Trupanion- poor/ difficult customer service
Update 3 weeks later (7/15): Still never received a call or email from a supervisor. Even after providing my information directly on trust pilot to them per their request. I guess it is impossible to talk to any one at this company besides customer service agents that aren't able to assist you. My mind is blown at how bad they treat their customer. -------------- Update: 2 weeks later and still not resolved. I can't even get a supervisor to call me back for assistance. I had the clinic submit the paperwork just like they requested and it was still denied. Asked them to reach out to my clinic and they refused to do so. I'm at a lost of what to do next with this company. Would not recommended. Terrible customer service and looking for any opportunity to not pay you for your pet's services. ------------------- Trupanion used to provide great customer service. I've had them for 6 years. My experience has been very poor recently. The claims are taking longer to process and I have to do all the extra leg work to collect additional information from my vet. The claims writers nitpick everything in the records even if it contradicts everything else in the medical history. The person taking my pets history at the 2nd vet miss wrote how long the issue has been going on for with my pets. Trupanion declined my claim because that made it a "pre existing conditions". Even though the first and 3rd vet that seen my pet clearly had the accurate time the issue started in their notes. If I want the claim reopened for review, I have to do more leg work and get the vet to fill out an appeals form. Terrible customer service. Not sure what I am paying for if I you don't cover anything and I have to track down everything. I used to recommend them to people all the time, but will no longer do so.
