I feel super confident with choosing Pumpkin!
I was looking for pet insurance after a traumatic experience with a pet who got sick and having to deal with not only the emotional turmoil but also the stress of financial burden. I heard great things about Pumpkin and after doing some research and comparing other companies, Pumpkin seemed like the best option. Premium More Than Doubles When Pet Turns 9
The premium rate jumps when your pet turns 9, it more than doubles. I’d heard warnings from others about this, and unfortunately it is true. If your pet has any preexisting conditions you feel trapped. While you can adjust your deductible and reimbursement percentage, the increase is so steep you have to minimize your coverage to get to a reasonable increase. For a 15% increase I’d have to move to $1,000 deductible with 50% reimbursement. There are many more options out there for pet insurance which won’t double/triple/quadruple (when your pet is 12) your premium. If only I’d done more research before purchasing. This insurance is fine unless your pet ages. Which is what we all want, for our besties to live very long happy lives. My best advice is to research other pet insurances, and ask others with the insurance if they received huge rate increases when their pet turned 9+.
