Trupanion exceeds my expectations!
Trupanion is amazing - courteous, knowledgeable staff, prompt processing and payment. I am so happy with my dogs insurance, we just got a kitten and I took out insurance with Trupanion for her as well

Horrific Experience with this company
I was looking for insurance that offered more coverage so switched from Healthy Paws to Trupanion. Big Mistake. I called first to make sure there would be no pre-existing condition clauses before I did and was assured there would not be so I signed up and canceled Healthy Paws. My puppy had two incidents, one was when he ate through an electrical cord and the other was for shaking for some unknown reason. Trupanion decided these two incidents constituted a foreign body exclusion on his policy. Even after I verified prior to joining it would not be. There was never a foreign body found in my dog. His shaking ended up being from fear of an appliance in my home. Trupanion decided they would not cover any bill for foreign body because of those two incidents. Again, was proven he had NO FOREIGN BOBY. I was able to go back to Healthy Paws and they agreed, no foreign body. DO NOT CHOOSE TRUPANION. They lied to me, misrepresented themselves to me and falsely claimed my dog had a foreign body when all medical records showed he had not. The person I spoke to before deciding to switch from health paws to them stated he was one of the founders of the company to try to get me to sign up. I later found he was not. Total dishonesty. DO NOT CHOOSE TRUPANION, THEY ARE DISHONEST.

Excellent service and quick payout
Our 7 month old Clumber Spaniel swallowed a rock. The Vet successfully removed the stone and we filed a claim as soon as Nicholas was home. Trupanion acknowledged the claim and kept us in the loop while doing their due diligence. The funds were deposited in our bank promptly. We highly recommend Trupanion, as did our Veterinarian.

From Vomiting and Lethargic to THRIVING!
I carefully researched numerous pet insurance companies and tried to find all the fine print to carefully compare. Finally, I settled on Trupanion for several reasons:
1. For any new particular medical need that arises, such as chronic kidney disease that our Libby developed, we pay the first $500, then Trupanion covers 90% of all treatment and medications needed FOR THE REST OF LIBBY'S LIFE! There will be no additional co-pay requirements when the year ends as with other companies. (Check the fine print of other companies for that!)
2. For any particular medical need, there is NO CAP! Trupanion will not stop paying 90% of the medical bills for the life of our pet, Libby! Most companies I researched listed dollar figures for CAPS, the maximum amount they will pay for a particular need.
3. Additional add-on: for a little more we purchased an optional coverage package that adds certain treatments that could be beneficial.
We placed zero claims until Libby was 8 years old and suddenly showed signs of an illness. She started vomiting and became lethargic so quickly! It turned out to be chronic kidney disease and we feared she might die! She was lethargic and like butter in my arms! After several nights in the emergency hospital, she stabilized and we brought her home. Now she is on a special diet, supplements, and receiving acupuncture treatments (covered by the optional coverage package we added). The medical bills have really added up for this 1 illness but Trupanion made it very manageable because they are covering 90%, AS PROMISED!
Libby is THRIVING and we are beyond thrilled! Any pets we have in the future will be covered by Trupanion!

Reimbursed quickly, I recommend Furkin
when we recently had a scare with our puppy we had to take her to An emergency vets clinic out of town. The invoice was high. Furkin covered their potion of the bill without question and we had the money in our account in just a few day. It's great to deal with a company that puts the health of your pet and your own finances ahead of their own profit. When every we talk to other pet owner we always recommend Furkin.
