Started young...paying off now!
Our Cairn Terrier is now 13 years old and we've used Trupanion since she was a pup. The first 9 or so years we never filed a claim with one dog bite exception and in that case the $250 vet bill was under our deductible. These last few years our older terrier has had an ACL issue, kidney issues and various bouts of stomach issues, etc. Now I know what we were paying for all these years when the dog was younger! Vet bills add up quickly and so glad we have been insured. Trupanion pays claims quickly and without issue. Their customer service has been top notch and always helpful with an explanation if ever needed. I'd highly recommend their insurance coverage for your dog!! A+ rated

My first pet insurance ever and within…
My first pet insurance ever and within the first 2 months they tried lying to my vet and made up an illness my dog had that was according to them pre existing. Even my vet ci facets 3 times to tell then no this dog does not have this illness and it took them 2 months to figure that out meaning my visits weren't covered until this was resolved. Other than that no complaints I guess ..

Easy to file/Long wait
Filing the claim was easy. I had requested the medical records and bills from the veterinarian so I was able to upload them at the same time as I filed the claim. However, it still took 34 days for them to process the claim which was a basic wellness visit. I would understand a delay if the insurance carrier had to get the bills and records and have to wait to receive them. However, it appears they had everything to process the claim on day 1. So unsure of why it took so long, but anything beyond 2 weeks doesn’t appear reasonable if there wasn’t a coverage concern or an issue with having the required paperwork.
