Pet insurance
I have 4 pets, three of which are insured by MetLife and one is insured by Nationwide. I have had my nationwide policy for over 6 years and originally had 2 cats on the policy. I was grandfathered in and wasn’t offered the same deal for my other pets when I got them. MetLife provided a policy similar to that of nationwide, so I took it. Thankfully my pets have been relatively healthy. The times I’ve filed a claim with MetLife, I have never had any problems. I have been reimbursed the appropriate amount within about a week. I find the best way to contact them is to call them . I hope that if one of my pets is in need of costly healthcare treatment, MetLife will continue to cover the costs agreed upon in the insurance policy for which I have been paying for. Nationwide was a godsend for me, when my cat was diagnosed with lung cancer and needed chemotherapy . When I had to put him to rest, Nationwide paid for his euthanasia and cremation, they also refunded me for the remaining days of the month. I was sent a condolence letter and given information on pet grieving services as well. MetLife has big shoes to fill if I ever face a situation like that again. For now, I am very happy with MetLife.

Pets best is the best!
I recently insured my three years youngest dogs with pets best after a ton of research and comparison with the other companies. I had a huge vet bill with my oldest dog last year that pushed me to take action and insure the 3 young dogs for peace of mind if nothing else I had only had the insurance for a little over a month when my perfectly healthy pooch had a terrible scary illness of course over a holiday weekend. Pets Best took very good care of us. The claim process was easy and reimbursement was quick I have the reimbursement go directly to my care credit card and that worked out great. Don’t think it can’t happen to you. Insure your pets with pets best and sleep better tonight!

TRUPANION IS A SHAM
Today I cancelled my pet insurance policy with TRUPANION. I have been paying monthly premiums for my northern breed dog since he was a puppy. He is now almost 17. Over the years, the premiums have increased from time to time. I think I was originally paying around $35 and now it is up to about $69. Not too bad for a 17-year time span. Fortunately, Sammy has been an overall healthy dog and I can count on one hand the number of claims I have submitted over the years. Of course, because the deductible is "per disease", I have received $0 in payouts. This past week, I received a notification from Trupanion stating that my monthly premium was being increased from $69 to $94. THAT IS A 35% INCREASE! Now, when my pet is old and I really need the insurance, they force a 35% premium increase. When I called to complain I was told that "the cost of veterinary care has increased." As a veterinarian, I am well aware of this fact but NO WHERE have costs increased by 35% in one year. TRUPANION is a sham of a company, ripping off pet owners who are already struggling to provide medical care to their pets. They are an embarrassment to to the veterinary profession. Please boycott this company and tell your friends to do the same.

Poor Communication, Sketchy Practices
The process for filing a claim was unnecessarily complicated. After filing the initial claim they requested additional documents from us which we provided. It took them over a month of back and forth calls and emails to actually acknowledge that they received the documents we sent. During which time they repeatedly denied the claim stating that they did not receive the documents (they did). After almost two months they finally denied our claim. When we called and asked why, they stated that it was an issue with one of the documents from the vet. They told us we could call and ask the vet to change the medical records in order for the claim to go through. After such a long headache of them not communicating and then suggesting that we ask a vet to change records, we decided that Spot Pet Insurance was not for us and canceled our coverage. Our overall experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing.
