No longer a great insurance as of 2024
If you are shopping for pet insurance. Be aware of the age of the reviews you are looking at. I have been a Nationwide pet insurance customer for 8+ years, and was always recommending NW because they really helped me take care of my pet through the years, claims were easy, and I had peace of mind if anything ever went wrong. That is all over now, and I wouldn't recommend NW to anyone ever again. AND I am going back to the people I recommended them to to warn them. In 2024, NW raised my premium 3x what I was paying from around $55 to $167 monthly. In 2025, after my dog was diagnosed with a medical condition and I needed insurance more than ever, they dropped my coverage from 90% to 50%, and still are trying to charge the same $167 monthly premium. Now the insurance isn't worth it at the exorbitant premiums they are charging for basically no coverage. I am so disappointed with this company. Everything they "promise" on their website is BS. This is not the best pet insurance, they are not on your side, and they do not offer complete coverage or confidence anymore. For being with nationwide for so long, they have screwed me out of being able to switch insurances because now we have a preexisting condition and my senior dog's needs aren't going to be able to be met. I have been paying for this insurance for 8+ years for the peace of mind, and it wasn't worth it with this coverage drop. Thanks for nothing Nationwide. You should be ashamed of these policy changes.

So glad I got insurance for my dog
I signed up for insurance for my dog back in 2019, when I first adopted him. I am very glad that I did, and that I chose the coverage I did, because now he has been diagnosed with cancer... Diagnosis and treatment has and will continue to be expensive, and had it not been for this insurance I would have had to put him down. He's my baby, and I'm just so grateful that I have this option.

The agents I spoke to were knowledgeable, helpful and professional
The agents I spoke to were knowledgeable, helpful and professional. I was able to get coverage for my new kitty and change the existing coverage for my dog quickly and easily, with lots of guidance and no pushback on my suggestions. The costs, while not cheap, are in line with my expectations, and the service in the past has always been good, tending to very good.
