Nationwide ruined VPI
We've had VPI insurance on both of our dogs for many years now. Up until later 2015 I was pretty happy with it. Our older dog has a heart condition and is on a significant amount of medications and has to see a cardiologist several times a year. The claims were submitted and overall I felt that we were being reimbursed fairly. After the switch the Narionwide, that has all changed. Suddenly we have now reached our annual maximum as of March?? The worst part is that when I received the paperwork in the mail with the new schedule and announcement of the name change, I called to ask if I still had the same amount of coverage as before. The rep assured me that my policy had not changed and if anything our coverage would be better than before. That was a blatant lie. Nationwide has gotten greedy and has absolutely ruined VPI. I'm going to cancel our policies immediately and plan to contact all of the VCA clinics to inform them of these horrible business practices. It was a VCA that initially gave us the brochure for VPI and they need to know that their patients are being screwed by this company. If you ask me there is a class action lawsuit coming their way. If anyone here is on Twitter, be sure to complain about @nationwidepet publicly. Social media is the best way to ruin the reputation of a big company these days & it's the only way they will listen. Can I give zero stars? That is what they deserve.

Great customer service!
Lauren Karl is a wonderful employee, very informative & helped me understand the process of a new pet owner & my responsibilities of maintaining their health. She helped me navigate the app, showed me where I can look for pending claims to be accepted & how to reach out for any additional assistance. I am 100% satisfied with my choice in pet insurance. Thanks again!

Amazing company!
I have been so impressed and thrilled with the service Healthy Paws has provided us. With the Healthy Paws app, submitting a claim could not be easier and I am so impressed with how quickly all claims are processed. Our dog has had some stomach problems so we've had to submit a few claims and each claim is processed easily and promptly. Needless to say, we love our dog and hate seeing him get sick. The last thing you want to do when they are sick is stress about the cost and whether or not claims will be accepted. Healthy Paws' policies are totally clear and they are true to their word. My dog was sick just last week and the reimbursement check has already arrived! The fact that Healthy Paws makes the claims process so incredibly easy provides major relief during an otherwise very stressful time. If you are looking for pet insurance and want it to be as convenient and efficient as possible, Healthy Paws is your answer! Last thing...so far they have followed up every claim with a personal email asking how our dog is recovering. All these factors combined make you feel like this is a company who truly cares about your pet!

Making the choice between treatment or not.
My dog Lily is a 7 year old very healthy dachshund. Then the unthinkable happened. She started having seizures. Not 1 but several in the span of a week. After seeing my vet she recommended a veterinary neurologist. Which we did see to see if Lily had a brain tumor. In order to check for that she would need an MRI and a spinal tap, with a price tag of between 3 to 5 thousand dollars. Knowing that Embrace had my back, or Lily's made my decision easier because I knew I would be covered. Fortunately, no brain tumor and seizures are under control for now. Thank you Embrace.

Responsive, speedy, professional claims payment.
We rescued Phoebe at the end of December, 2015. She had lost a front leg in a terrible mauling, but appeared to be healthy otherwise. In February, we discovered a nodule that turned out to be a MAST cell tumor requiring surgical removal with wide margins. Later that month, she began vomiting and having diarrhea and we discovered she had marked inflammatory bowel disease. Healthy Paws was right there with us every step of the way. They are the third pet insurance company we have used and by far the best! Their claims process is so easy--I scan the bills and email them, no forms to fill out. They acknowledge receipt very quickly, send an explanation of benefits, and pay promptly. Their customer service staff are responsive and send warm and caring emails. Healthy Paws is terrific! They are instrumental in keeping Phoebe healthy and giving her the better life she deserves.

Buyer be AWARE!
I have a dog covered under a different insurance company. The policy covers eighty percent of the medical costs. When I signed up with them they were upfront about not covering my dog's knees for the first six months. This eliminated any preexisting clauses for this condition. Now to Trupanion...A friend recommended them based on a positive experience. They cover ninety percent of costs so I thought I'd use them for my other dog. Signed up, asked them when my policy would be in full force, was quoted a date, scanned the policy figuring they would be like the policy on the other dog...wrong! The dog took a wrong turn in the mud and came up lame. The vet did radiographs and said the ACL had a tear. So I sent in the claim and got rejected. After several lectures from the Trupanion staff I canceled the policy. It seems that in their "not covered" areas are those tricky pre-existing conditions. Unfortunately for the pet owner most times the only way you know you have a pre-existing condition is to have your pet checked, which with this company would include: illnesses or injuries that occurred or began within the 18 months prior to the policy enrollment (even if they are not in your pet's medical records), luxating patella, cranial cruciate ligament tear, glaucoma, entropion, ectropion, elbow dysplasia, cataracts, cherry eye, hip dysplasia. So, in other words, you better know the insides of your dog because this company has a bunch of legal loopholes to jump through so they won't have to cover you.

Peace of Mind - Focus on Pet and not the Bill
My constant companion has had a few bumps in the road during his 6 years at my side. The latest was the scariest and most difficult to isolate. After several days in-and-out of the vet's office, I was able to nurse him back to his playful self. As one might guess, the diagnostics and treatment were not inexpensive. Thankfully, Healthy Paws didn't flinch when the bills rolled in. Like other claims made, fairness and timeliness were paramount. I recommend Healthy Paws to every pet owner I meet. When things are fine, it's easy to put off the insurance. But, buying the insurance is the most affordable and prudent thing one can do, especially since our pets are our constant companions and deserve the best always.

First time pet insurance buyer
We purchase Pet insurance for our new puppy the beginning of January not knowing that we would be using it less than a month later. Sophie had an emergency blockage. Very satisfied with the speed of the claim and happy with the amount we were paid. Just a little disappointed that some items were not paid at the full price because of excessive charge by the hospital? This was an emergency condition and we could not "shop" pet hospitals with the "best" prices. Other than that we were satisfied.

I love my kitties so much they're insured!
We had two cats whom we loved like children. In 2012, our cat Simon developed diabetes and required insulin shots for several months before passing away. In 2014, after many months of treatment for pancreatic disease, his brother Alvin passed away. Both cats had very expensive treatment, and we learned that we would have been better off financially had we had health insurance. We adopted two new rescue kitties in 2014 - Sherlock and Lucy Lu. As soon as we did, we purchased ASPCA health coverage for all of our cats - the two new babies as well as Simon and Alvin's younger brother Theodore. We have given ourselves peace of mind. We know that we can give our cats proper health care. Our coverage not only takes care of them when they are ill, but they are also covered for "well cat" checkups. We love our cats like they were our children, and ASPCA Health Coverage allows us to provide proper health care for them as if they were our children. We have been very happy with the ASPCA Health Care coverage.
