I had the AKC insurance -- it was awful the entire AKC company from the employees’ who answers the phone, to the claim processors, to the actual "quality" of the policy. The AKC has many areas that allow them not to pay the claims; they don't cover arthritis, diabetes, hereditary, genetic conditions. They have annual maximums and per incident maximum as well. I have cancelled with them and now with a reputable provider who does cover all of what I indicated the AKC does not for LESS money then I paid the AKC for Wellness Plan. Watch out for the AKC coverage because in the end when you need the insurance -- clearly the AKC is not there as my experience was and I incurred thousands of dollars of expense not to mention the enormous premium I paid to the AKC. Can you believe when it was deemed medically necessary the AKC even denied euthanasia with the most enriched plan they offered which is what I had. Please do your research and remember my experience before committing to this dreadful insurance – clearly I can’t call them a provider – since they only provided me with anguish. My Experience is I paid for the ILLUSION of insurance.

I recently submitted my first claim with Healthy Paws. My 7 month old French Bulldog had contracted Giardia over Christmas. I had to take her to a different vet than her usual one since they were closed for the holidays. Healthy Paws helped me gather her medical records from the new vet, and old vet, saving me the legwork. The claim was processed in a very short amount of time, and they even called to check up on how my dog was doing! I spoke with a couple of different customer service agents, and they were all so nice and helpful, I wish more companies could follow their example.

based on the fact that if the company feels you are too much of a risk they have the option of canceling your policy. Then you are out of luck since then most likely your pet will have preexisting conditions. This is one reason I chose to go with pet plan for my other two pets.They did pay quickly for my cat but unless you are familiar with vet costs the limits they offer per incident are too low and they have lifetime caps. I went with Pet Plan for my other two pets and am very pleased with them. No lifetime limits and has $20,000 year cap which refills each year.

I received a letter in the mail for ASPCA Pet Insurance shortly after spending hundreds of dollars for my dog, Spooky, to have bladder stone surgery. Since both Spooky and Waffles were over 10 years old, I realized that their health was likely to decline over the years and the costs would only increase. Waffles is no longer with us due to Cancer in 2008...ASPCA helped to cover the costs of his care and now Spooky has just completed treatment for a ruptured Anal gland and Vestibular Syndrome. I'm very thankful to have ASPCA Pet Insurance.

We have had our Minature Bull Terrier for just under 10 months now, and unfortunatley he has had a few issues. His most recent involed stomach surgery to remove foreign objects, bully breeds tend to explore with their mouths.... After a few trips to our vet, and several overnight stays in emergency he's doing fine and back to his clownish self. Trupanion has been absolutely unbelievable. We purchased Trupanion based on the recomondation of our Vet, who said she had always had great interaction with Trupanion, and had several other clients who were very pleased with Trupanions coverage. Of course we did not expect to have so many issues with our new baby bully, but even with several claims within a few months, totaling over $3000 dollars, Trupanion has always come through with the coverage that our policy said it would cover. I am constantly telling friends who have pets that they should really check out Trupanion, especially those that get puppies and kittens, because it really is a relief knowing that you can give your pets the medical attention they need, without worrying about covering the sometimes large veterinary bills.

I filed a claim with Trupanion. Faxed it with the bill and her medical records. Within just a day or so I got an email that my claim was complete I will receive 90% of the cost back excluding 35.00 for the office visit. Very fast they did not give me one bit of grief. thank you trupanion.. And Koda is feeling much better!

My dog ingested a kitchen implement that over the course of a month worked its way through the digestive tract before finally becoming lodged in the intestine. He became quite ill and required emergency surgery to remove the object. Total medical expenses were nearly $2,900.00. My AKC Pet Healthcare Plan covered approximately $2,100.00 of the expense. Payment was fast and hassle free. I faxed in my my claim the night I took my dog home from the hospital and had a insurance check in hand in about eight days. Last Fall, my cat Maisie was hit by a car and suffered a severely dislocated hip. By the time a neighbor found her and got her to me, too much time had passed for the vet to be able to pop the hip back in, so she had to have an expensive surgery to repair it. Between the initial diagnostic visit to the vet and the surgery, I ended up spending $1900, which is more than I could afford. If I hadn't known that insurance would pay a good portion of that, I would have had to put her down. With insurance, I recieved $1082 of that back after my deductible and some adjustments (the orthopaedist's charges were several hundred dollars over the reasonable and customary amount). Maisie still has a limp, but she's running and jumping and back to her old self thanks to ASPCA Pet Insurance. The staff are always a pleasure to work with (unfortunately this isn't the first time I've had to make a claim for Maisie), and the processing and payments are timely. I have two other cats and they are all insured for catastrophic coverage. I also now pay a littlbe bit extra each month for continuing coverage across enrollment periods. This is well worth it. In 2009, Maisie broke her foot at the end of a period, and the follow-up charges weren't covered, because they fell in the new year. I tell everyone I know to insure their pets.
