Trupanion THE BEST pet Ins I could of EVER found...Thank you so much!!
2 months ago, our 8 year old Golden Retriever HENRY was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Fortunately, wed caught it in time, and through weekly Chemo IV treatments, he is now in remission TRUPANION HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING letting us know that claims have been received, and then paying our vet 90% just about IMMEDIATELY!! You could not ask for better service. I highly recommend to any pet owner.

Caring staff, great insurance
We've had two dogs with health issues that were both insured by Trupanion. Anytime I have called to confirm coverage, the answer is "get whatever your dog needs." I wish my human family insurance was this caring and responsive.

Unfortunately at a crossroad
Unfortunately I find myself at a crossroad with Trupanion. Despite few claims, my monthly fee has more than doubled since 2016. I started in 2012 when my dog was a pup at around $36. By October 2016 it was $66. October 2017 $81. 2018? $105. 2019 $121+. Now notified that it will jump to $140 per month in October. These are huge jumps which, while they say they don’t increase due to age, just don’t jive with inflation or, as they state, increases in costs in our area. Keep in mind that the exam fees are never covered, there is a deductible and they pay only a portion of what they consider to be covered. I have had to argue a few times when repeating issues were denied. Ultimately folks need to recognize what this insurance is for - catastrophic, bolt of lightning from the sky type of event. If it’s huge, it’s a lifesaver. If it’s normal health issues? It simply doesn’t make sense. I’ve paid faithfully for eight years but $1700 per year is likely my breaking point. A tax free saving account for my pet makes far more sense. Not alone - a friend has decided to cancel. And BTW, Trupanion’s profit in the last quarter was 29%. Edited to add: Thank you for the response. While I recognize that rates change and acknowledge that your company indicates that age is not an issue, the data is troubling. I indicated in error that my original premium was $36 per month. Apologies, it was $46 per month. However, in the time she has been insured the cost will have increased 205%. To date, I have paid $7,000+ in premiums and, based on the latest increase, can expect to pay an additional $10,000 in her remaining lifetime (typically 14 years for her breed so 6 more years). That is IF there are no further increases. Unlikely. At a nominal 15% increase per annum that number shoots up to $17,000 in the next 6 years. Ouch! (To compare, my policy has shown an average rate increase of 25% per annum,) I should also note that inflation was 12.9% total since 2012 and the cost of annual physicals and exam fees at my vet’s have gone up by 16-24% total over that same period. This is not to say there isn’t value in pet insurance under certain circumstances but for most the cost likely doesn’t make sense. Folks just need to be fully aware before they make the commitment, perhaps considering other options.

Trupanion is the best insurance company (of any kind) I've ever dealt with!
Anytime a friend asks for a recommendation for pet insurance, I always tell them Trupanion is the best. I'm so glad my vet had their info and that I went ahead and got started with them. I can't believe how good the service is - fast, efficient and caring. Everytime I've had to call with a question, there's always been an actual person to help me.
