Easy to work with and Personable.

I have been a customer for about 6 months. I did A LOT of research before choosing a company. Embrace has been a very easy company to work with and has handled each claim with speed and they are very personable. I had one claim that was not covered because it was thought to be a pre-existing condition, but after my Vet wrote a letter explaining it was not, they overturned it right away. I especially liked the option for prescription coverage. Well, worth it! They reimburse what you paid out minus your chosen co-pay. They don't have a set amount on what they will pay out on each procedure. I just wish I got Pet insurance when my dog was a puppy. It would have saved me so much money. I recommend Embrace!

Every pet owner needs Petshealth Care Plan

We have had the insurance for 7 years now. We have only had to use it a couple times, but feel it's worth every penny. It's very easy to file the claim and reimbursement is pretty quick. I am 100% pleased with this company and recommend it to all I know who are thinking of getting a pet.

I'm Amazed

My 11 month old chocalate lab puppy caught a nasty bout off Colitis. I got him to the Vet and he needed tests to rule out obstructions, bloodwork and stayed overnight to get IV and medication to get everything under control. My Vet and I filled out all the paperwork and sent all his records since it was our first claim. I faxed all the information this morning and by this evening I was notified that my claim was approved minus my deductible and I would be receiving $435 on my claim. I figured at least 2 to 3 weeks, and can't believe that it was processed soo quickly. I'm relieved to know Guinness is covered and that this company will come through.

Terrible insurance - not to be recommended

First of all, I would like to say that all of my pets are rescued animals...With that being said, I am very disappointed in how my most recent claim was handled. I have an older cat that has bad hips and sometimes has difficulty going to the bathroom. After speaking with the vet, she was placed on a lax 'aire (which of course is not covered by ASPCA insurance) two times per week. Well, within a two month period, because she is older, she had a severe emergency and was brought to the hospital because she could not go to the bathroom and was in severe pain. The vets in the hospital thought it could be a tumor. Turns out, fortunately, she just needed a change of diet. However, the bill of over $700 (which for for x-rays and other tests to rule out tumors) was not covered AT ALL - after putting in hundreds of dollars into pet insurance that should be covering me, they DID NOT AID ME AT ALL!!! In addition, I have had previous issues with receiving money back. The company dictates what they think a "reasonable cost" for vet bill is. In other words, vet check up for me may cost $69.34 - they feel that a reasonable cost is only $17.34. I think that is completely insulting and absolutely disgusting. This has occurred MANY times over the last few years. Finally, after calling up the company, they were completely unhelpful and fixing the matter.

Can never talk to anyone; takes forever to pay.

Gus had three different claims. ASPCA was next to impossible to get someone to talk to, putting me on hold for more than ten minutes twice this last time(then I gave up and hung up). It could take over four weeks to get reimbursement, even if all information was faxed immediately. Once I was told they didn't receive the faxed material, as their fax number had changed(of course they didn't let policy holders know of the change). I was told they would 'expedite' the claim. Even then, weeks went by. I am currently starting my fourth week of waiting after faxing claims to them and e-mailing them to tell them what a lousy company they are and specifics about the last, and final, claim. I finally got a call from them, and was told they would 'expedite' the claim(sound familiar?). Gus deserved better in his short life. He didn't deserve ASPCA.

Not Highly Recommended

Today I received a denial letter from Pet Care for our 15 year old Shih Tzu who had a second surgery in January 2010 to remove bladder stones. In 2005 she had her first surgery to remove stones and that was it, we never expected her to have to go through this again. I added her to an exisiting policy we had for a new puppy (2004) in August 2008 when we also adopted an older dog from the OSPCA and added him to the policy. I have been paying monthly for 3 dogs expecting to be covered if and when I need the help. When I first contacted the company to add two additional dogs, I told the rep my older dog had previous surgery for bladder stones but don't recall anyone telling me she wouldn't be covered for any future surgeries to remove bladder stones if this occurred again. In my mind, that shouldn't matter, when you pay monthly premiums, your pet SHOULD be covered! How can this be an existing condition when these stones were removed? No one can guarantee stones will not develop again, not even our vet. Our dog was put on a Cherry Blue plan which says on the webpage - "This is the product that will allow you to take care of them in any situation", "Coverage for ALL ILLNESSES available" - our Molly didn't have cancer or any recurring illness, she had one of those situations that MAY occur in the future. When I received the denial letter this morning, I called to complain and decided to cancel the policy for our 15 year old Shih Tzu. I had faithfully paid premiums for 3 dogs every month and expected some help from Pet Care. The lady on the phone told me Molly fell under a pre-existing condition clause and I would not be reimbursed for anything ($1200 in costs). She's in good health according to her vet. The only issue she has to deal since her surgery is mild cataracts. Healthy heart, lungs, very good condition for her age. There's no point in continuing to pay this company when I needed them the most. I will be shopping around for another company who doesn't have any "fine print" surprises. I gave this company a rating of 5 because they did cover expenses when our youngest had surgery to remove 2 bladder stones when she was about a year old. If they develop again, I was told today that yes the expenses would be paid as long as it wasn't over their maximum of $3000 lifetime. The premiums I paid for my older Shih Tzu over the past 1-1/2 years would have covered almost half of the $1200 cost and not contributed to the comissions of a salesman on the phone. It may be worthwhile to open a savings account and put the equivalent of a monthly premium away into an investment plan. Very unhappy with this company today.

They were great during a very difficult time

My 2 year dog was hit by a car. I took him to a emerg. hospital and had several weeks of going back and forth to the regular doctor they paid me back very quickly and I am happy with this company.

Doesn't take much to become a 'risk'

We've had Petsecure insurance for a year and submitted claims for two emergency surgeries (foreign object ingestion) and a skin condition that has actually now started to clear up. Our Great Dane is now over a year old and things seem to be settling out in a sense. However, upon the semi-annual 'risk review', we were thrown into the high risk group and were dropped from 80% coverage to 50%. In their letters to customers, Petsecure likes to promote their showcase examples of 'top claim' high payouts, but those are all single case scenarios. The company is very good at quick claim processing and will rapidly approve and pay initial or periodic claims; we were initially very happy with Petsecure. Rest assured if you submit more than a couple of claims, you too will quickly become a risk to their profits...and their shareholders. We are now disappointed in Petsecure, and are shopping around for a different company that won't penalize their customers for accessing benefits.

Hallowe'en: My Late CAT Named "PUMPKIN"

Although there is the deductible, I do find that my expenses are balanced by the veterinary costs and piece of mind. I get the peace of mind knowing that extraordinary expenses will be covered. I hope that does not happen of course but it did for my late cat named "Pumpkin" who developed lung cancer. I forget the veterinary costs but they were considerable and then I decided I did not want to prolong the illness's effects on her...I had told my vet to put her down the moment it seemed she was showing signs of "drowning slowly" because of fluid build up in the lungs. The insurance covered all those expenses too. Pumpkin did live several years after diagnosis, and I remember seeing her leap up high in mid air to chase a butterfly just after I had told my guests that my cat is diagnosed with lung cancer. We all laughed because there was so much life in her still. Thinking about all the great memories I have with "Pumkin" reminded me of Hallowe'en. I have begun the practice of keeping my recent 2 cats in for both the night before and the night of Hallowe'en. I had read somewhere in a newspaper that there a some very sadistic members of society that would think nothing or hurting, maming or even practicing rituals on cats. For this reason, I have become very protective and set up a "sanctuary" in my home and choose one room for this. I have a litter box, food, water and a closed door with ventilation in the room. This way I don't have to worry the cats will get outsid

A Trusted Name in Pet Insurance

After adopting Trixie (a black three legged kitten) and Alice (a Maine Coon mix), we decided on securing coverage for them in the event of accidents or illness. After doing some research, we felt the best choice for us would be coverage offered through the ASPCA. The premiums were reasonable and the coverage was perfect for our needs. In addition we went with a name that defines the care of animal companions. Luckily both "kids" are very healthy and we have only had to submit one claim for each of them over the past three years. Both were paid in a fair and timely manner. The peace of mind this coverage offers is invaluable. What with skyrocketing vet costs, at least a portion of the expenses will be recouped, and we will always be able to give our girls the best of care.
