Pets Best associates did well in not only explaining my new policy, but also in advising for and against policy changes for two cats, offering help in thinking through how to approach our geriatric cat's likelihood of health care needs and what, exactly, counts as a "pre-existing illness."

We adopted a 14 month old German Shepard 2 years ago. Our trainer recommended Trupanion insurance because she has three dogs and said it was the best by far that she had found. I took him to our vet for a complete health checkup and he was given clean bill of health. I signed him up with Trupanion and did not think too much about it. Six months ago he was diagnosed with severe hip displaysia and the vet recommended total hip replacement surgery on both hips. I submitted a claim to Trupanion for everything, xrays, meds etc., along with a pre-authorization request for the surgery. Trupanion approved the surgery, and per our policy the only thing they did not cover at that point was the office checkup. The surgeon wanted to wait and see how long we could manage the problem with diet, meds and supplements before he had to have surgery. Since surgery authorizations are for 90 days, I contacted Trupanion and they assured me that Titan would be covered whenever the vet determined necessary. I would recommend this pet insurance to anyone who loves their pet. Under the terms laid out in the level of insurance I have purchased, the Trupanion staff have been great to work with and have always held true to the promises made. I purchase this insurance mainly as a safeguard against a devastating illness or accident and my experience with this company has been that it's well worth the cost of the premiums for the peace of mind those premiums provide. Recently my Irish wolfhound Lucy ate a toy. So she had surgery at our vet. We'll she wasn't getting any better so we took her back to the vet. We had an ultrasound and found her intestines had detached after the surgery. So she had to have surgery again within 4 days. Needless to say we had a very large bill of approximately $5800. Pets best was quick and paid more than 1/2 of the bill!!!!

I also asked around family and friends to see what insurance they recommended and compared pricing. I chose Trupanion because I felt the coverage was the best for what we wanted to spend; they also had broad coverage no matter what the age of our dogs and were happy to answer all of my questions over the phone before registering. About a month ago, we could not believe it when our oldest Yorkie, Harley, was admitted to the emergency vet hospital a week before his 10th birthday and diagnosed with severe acute necrotizing pancreatitis. Yes, it is as bad as it sounds. He’s an extremely healthy dog and this came out of nowhere. We were able to transfer him from one emergency place to the best one in the area with the best care for such a severe case, including ultra sound, countless antibiotics and pain meds, and plasma treatments. We couldn’t believe that he could potentially be in the hospital overnight for up to a week or more and we knew the vet bills would start to pile up quickly. The first 4 days or so were touch and go for my poor baby and it was the worst week of waiting. However

Our Dog Callie hurt her knee after jumping off the couch. THe folks at our Vet (Best Friends) took very good care of her and processed our Embrace claim for us. within a couple of weeks I received a confirmation from Embrace that they were reviewing our claim, followed up by a second e-mail confirming that the charges were covered. It even included a very easy to understand EOB for our records. THe check came within a few days after that. It doesn't get much easier than that. Thanks Embrace!
