Thank you!
Appreciate your help. I was disappointed in the rate increase from $50 to $75 a month.

Constant rate increases
My dog has been insured for over 10 years and the rate increases are constant. Now that he's older the rate is ridiculous but I can't cancel the policy now! I would not use them again.

If you have a French Bulldog, you need Pet insurance. If you need Pet insurance, you need HEALTHYPAWS!
We have had several french bulldogs in our family over the years and have tried various pet insurance companies. For the latest dog we tried Healthy Paws based on a referral from our breeder and have never been happier. Claims are paid quickly, the app is super easy to use, and they "get" that owning a frenchie means that you may have more claims than the average pet. We're very happy with their service and can happily recommend them for peace of mind and coverage of those surprise pet emergencies.

I am very upset with this company and how unfair they are
I am very upset because my new puppy was feeling sick and I took him to his first vet visit the 17th. He was diagnosed with a cold and the doc gave me cough pills. The 17th was the day that my policy insurance started. After this day you have to wait 5 days to get covered. I called them and a representative told me to go to the vet after the 5 days and make a claim with them and they will reimburse me. Well, the 23rd I took him to a different vet at another location closer to my house because my puppy was not getting better and I was almost out of cough pills. This knew vet diagnosed him with a cold also, and gave me more cough pills. Days pass and I make my claim with this ins company to receive my money back from the 23rd vet visit because I should be covered for this. They did not give me any reimbursement and the reason was because my puppy was first diagnosed the 17th and they are taking this day as the day which was not covered. Nonsense. Only for their convenience and unfair benefit. I was asking to be reimbursed for the 23rd not the 17th. And it was a different doctor at a different clinic, therefore a different diagnosis. That's 2+2=4. I talked to another representative about this and she didn't want to understand this nor help. But they just lost a customer because I will not continue with this insurance. And I do not recommend you pay for this either. It is not worth it. And they only work for their convenience. Very unfairly. I would give them ZERO STARS if I could.

Best pet insurance by far
We did a lot of research for our giant schnauzer, Greg, when choosing pet insurance. We landed on Healthy Paws after a few people we knew recommended it and reading great reviews on the company. It was the best choice we’ve made with our pup so far. He’s very mischievous and somehow lands himself in the puppy hospital every other month. Healthy paws processed the claims quickly and has never pushed back about the services he receives when it comes to paying for his vet bill. Healthy paws differs from other pet insurances in the way that they do not require a second vet’s opinion before a service is rendered, has no maximums, you can go to whichever vet you please, and has no complex spread sheet you have to read when trying to figure out what they will or will not cover. If you don’t think you need pet insurance you will surely regret it. Healthy paws has paid thousands of dollars of vet bills for us and relieves any stress associated with money while in an already stressful situation when your pet is sick. We don’t normally do reviews often but I honestly feel so strongly about this company we chose to!

Nationwide Pet Insurance Has Really Taken Care of Our Dogs and Our Family Over the Years
In October of 2019, our eight-year-old yellow lab, Harley, suddenly stopped eating. He was in the hospital for five days and, long story short, he had a fatal blood clot. While we hoped and prayed there was a chance to save Harley, we never would have been able to afford to have him in the hospital for that long to even see if there was a chance (crying right now). Nationwide covered its share of the expenses without question and sent condolences after Harley passed. I would never use another insurance company for pet insurance, after everything Nationwide did.

Healthy Paws Insurance is the best! Easy to send in the claims, and fast reimbursement. Love this insurance for my pets!
Healthy Pets insurance was there when I needed them. My sweet dog Mollie, became very ill. It was comforting to know that the necessary testing and medical treatment she needed would not be hindered due to the financial cost of care. My claims were immediately handled and my reimbursement check was received within a week. I also received a sweet follow up email from Healthy Paws to see how my sweet Mollie was doing in her recovery. I am so glad I found this pet insurance company for my fur babies!

Don't believe the 30 day money back guarantee
Without belaboring the details, I bought the insurance and submitted a claim about two weeks later. The claim wasn't process for THREE MONTHS; therefore, I missed the 30 day cancellation window. Then the company determines, based on my pet's records, that she showed symptoms of a disease that was later diagnosed. This, FWIW, a GEICO company. I've filed a complaint with my state insurance regulator.

Don't use them
Don't use them. They fight you on everything, don't include any explanation and try to short change you at every turn. I signed up for $52/month, $250 deductible, 80% reimbursement policy. I thought it was pretty expensive but if she has to go to the pet hospital I thought it would be worth it. Three weeks after my insurance started, my puppy started pooping blood so we took her to the ER. Between the intro exam, that visit, and the follow up, I spent $835. They reimbursed (against deductible mind you) $114. They provided no notification of this, but when I dug into the claims and then called, they said the ER visit was due to "pre-existing" conditions. I canceled my service and I recommend you don't sign up with them. Not worth it.

Easy to communicate with but aggressive about finding reasons to deny or reduce claims. Very disappointed.
Trupanion has a smooth and quick customer service, but is aggressive about finding reasons to deny or reduce claim amounts. Don't count on the coverage to truly have your back. My dog had a dental injury and Trupanion reduced our claim to 15% of the submitted amount. He has allergies and they've denied coverage of any portion of his treatment for skin conditions as 'behavioral'. If you want coverage for catastrophic care, then maybe consider a policy, but read the fine print of the policy terms carefully and be aware that any possible loophole will be aggressively exploited to avoid coverage.
