Thankful!

Trupanion has been a great investment for our dog Bentley. They process claims promptly and I have rarely had any issues. Even when there was a concern, it was easy to get someone on the phone and get the situation resolved. My vet was also able to get pre-approval from Trupanion for a major surgery in less than five minutes! Bentley would have crossed the rainbow bridge if we did not have Trupanion to help with the expenses. I am so thankful!

Helpful for first time dog mom

This was my first time having pet insurance so I was really pleasantly surprised that I had this experience. They warned me the process would take a few weeks and it did but nothing bad and the explanation of benefits and my repayment was very clear.

Don't talk - Don't Discuss anything with Vet within 30 day window!!!!

Pre-exiting Conditions – BE VERY CAREFUL here. I highly recommend you don’t talk to your vet, ask questions about breed specific issues at all within the 30-day window or you will be screwed. Within two weeks after receiving our French bulldog puppy, I thought I would be proactive and take him in for his puppy vaccinations and have a chat with the vet about anything specific for this breed. Mind you, this company talks about covering “EVERYTHING”, even breed specific conditions. The vet “informed” me that these breeds have certain issues which we may want to look at in the future. I didn’t know anything about this specific condition. Well, this conversation was within my 30-day grace period. No issues with the puppy other than vaccinations. So, when I finally decide to follow through on making sure I help my dog by getting the surgery in the future, I was denied the claim because it was considered a “pre-existing condition” that was discussed with the vet within the 30-day window. Trupanion quoted section 9.A.I as their reason for denial (Illnesses that occur or reoccur through to and including the 30 days following the Policy Enrollment Date are deemed pre-existing Conditions and are not eligible for coverage.) This was not a current illness or injury. No issues at all. The vet informed me that this "could" be an issue in the future for this specific breed. What bothers me the most is that I called them, and just as calm and dismissive as ever, told me, “yes, that’s the policy”. No discussion or anything. I am sooooo worried about what this means for my claims in the future. So, back to my original statement, be careful. I highly recommend again, “DON’T TALK ABOUT ANYTHING WITH YOUR VET UNTIL AFTER THE 30-DAY PERIOD”. So, so very disappointed. I have a decision to make, leave or stay. I hate when I think I'm doing the right thing for my pet, i end up being on the short end of the stick. So not cool!!!

There is no other insurance agency like trupanion! If you dont have trupanion your making a huge mistake.

Karma is a Bull Mastiff X Boxer and by no means is a small dog. In previous experience with my staffy, the TPLO is not a new surgery to me especially when I found out the cost I was up against. Luckily, my vet goes above and beyond (as well as her staff) to make sure that your treated with the best of the best when it comes to insurance, board certified vet techs, and the best medication for the current condition. Trupanion was completely hassle free and really just wanted me to focus on the recovery of my beloved Karma rather than extensive medical bills that even though I am not in a position to fork out...still would have to keep my baby in the best possible health. Once a trupanion member, always a trupanion member.

I could not be happier!

I have a healthy dog but I was tired of paying outrageous vet bills. I was unaware pet insurance was an option and I am so glad that I was referred to Trupanion... The gentleman on the phone by the name of Anthony was so kind and helpful and took the time to explain everything to me (as I am a newbie when it comes to insurance premiums) we had a lovely chat and he recommended the best insurance suitable to my needs. So thankful to have found them and have such a caring company to take care of my pup!

Would Use Healthy Paws in the Future

I would 100% recommend Healthy Paws to any new pet owner. They are extremely easy to deal with, are quick to reimburse and provide easy to understand explanations of benefits. Our pup, Rosie, tragically came down with a very rare condition at just 4 years old. We did everything we could to try to safe her and Healthy Paws supported us through all of it. People often underestimate the lifetime expense of a pet. Knowing that the medical care of your furry loved one is covered by insurance is a huge relief when their health starts to decline. Thanks Healthy Paws!
