Beware

I had insured my Sheltie with Embrace with the knowledge that she would have pleural effusion and pancreatitis excluded for 1 year as it was a preexisting condition. However, what I did not know, is during their medical review they began to exclude much more. For instance, she lost a tooth so that is noted as a permanent exclusion. Really, is it necessary? We can't replace it! That one I find comical. Her ALT was elevated once but was normal all subsequent tests, now that is excluded for 1 yr. ANYTHING a vet notes, they exclude no matter how minor. ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING that causes ANY signs and or symptoms related to a pre existing condition is excluded. So if you pet had difficulty breathing due to trauma now ANYTHING that causes difficulty breathing is excluded for 1 year. So if your dog gets say a bad cold and it affects their breathing, you're SOL. If a vet "suspects" a possible illness, it becomes a pre-existing condition. Like when they say "The test suggests an enlarged liver." Well, say goodbye to any and all liver diseases or anything that affects the liver even if its not liver related. Yet, when a Dr. says its unlikely a pre existing condition is the cause, the claim is denied. So you see, they are very broad on their exclusions and have a double standard for determining a pre-existing condition. "Suspect/Suggest a finding"= excluded for 1 yr. Claim that states "Not likely a an identified pre-existing condition"= DENIED. So be careful. Make sure your dog is groomed before seeing a vet because if there is any note of dandruff, dermatological condition is excluded for 1 year. Get their anal sacs drained too otherwise that's excluded for 1 yr. Overweight? Excluded for 1 yr. ANY abnormal blood values, not matter the cause, excluded for 1 year. When I say ANY, I mean ANY. The staff so far have been nice, I have to admit that however their broad "ANY AND ALL RELATED SIGNS SYMPTOMS" is outrageously extensive. Got a crusty in the eye- excluded for 1 yr as conjunctivitis. Have a claim for a covered illness but also causes a pre-existing to flare up= DENIED. Best to get this insurance when your dog is a pup or there's been no vet visit within a year because anything said is excluded. As I stated in the beginning, certain exclusions I agree with but some I totally think are wrong. So be careful when considering this company.

Thank Goodness for Insurance

Recently, my cat Spencer developed kidney problems. The bills totaled over $600.00. ASPCA covered most of the cost.I usually receive payment promptly, and there is usually a follow up call to see how he is doing. I can't ask for more.

always dependable, peace of mind

I had some cases when my pup got sick and the vet asked if we wanted to follow certain course of treatment and for a moment I wondered, what is the other option, let her suffer, or worse? And then I realize, some treatments are so expensive it is a valid question from the vet. I, like most pet owners, would do anything for my pet, but that comes with a price, well Healthy Paws has always been there, and the reimbursement checks come back quickly and without questions! I mentioned this to other dog owners in the park and I'm glad some of them took notice, so far three of Bella's friends (Spot, Saxon and Coco) had similar experiences with Healthy Paws, the best!

Very fast claims process!

Seriously have peace of mind when I know that my dog is insured by healthy paws. My dog got into a car accident and within the same week, I submitted my claims and they were processed in the next few days. I did this all through the healthy paws app on my phone. At first, I noticed that after 3 days, my claims weren't processing, but after I gave them a quick call, they actually gathered all the info I needed on their end so that I didn't have to make any additional phone calls to my vet. And my claim was processed the next day. Received my check in a few days. Very quick, I love it! All the procedures/treatment were covered except the initial exam, which is stated in their policy.

Don't use this insurance

this insurance is shit and they scam you. all pet insurance does this. read the fine print. even the best rated ones will try to screw you. i signed up for the defender to cover exam fees and other wellness tests they totally fuck you on that too. look elsewhere or avoid insurance altogether.

Wonderful customer service!

My dog was having seizures and required an MRI and spinal tap to determine the cause. Embrace pre-approved the procedures and once the diagnosis was made, I received a check from Embrace very quickly. I found that medication costs were quickly reimbursed as well. The customer service is exceptional. The representatives are courteous and attentive. So happy I have this insurance.

Brilliant

we have had Embrace for over 5 years now for Josie our working English Cocker. In all this time we have never had any problem dealing with Embrace. All claims were queued up in a very timely manner and resolved just as quickly.I originally got the insurance for my piece of mind but shortly came to appreciate the value of pet insurance; I do not have to make a decision to put dollars ahead of Josie's health. As an aside; they are probably the most user friendly insurance company I have ever dealt with, great people with a passion for what they do.
