Enrollment was easy ¡X but I did have concerns
Enrolling was mostly easy but there were a couple issues. 1) Getting hit with that $35 ¡§one time service fee¡¨ at the end was unexpected and a bit disheartening at a time when money is tight. You guys are the best, which is why I chose you over cheaper pet insurance, but I had very specifically budgeted for the quoted amount. I wish I knew up front there would be an extra fee so I could have been ready for that. 2) I had to choose ¡§medium mix¡¨ for her (or whatever), based on her estimated weight from Embark and the rescue I got her from. But she¡¦ll be right on the edge of medium and large, and I don¡¦t know what that means for my coverage if she does go over the weight limit. Will she still be fully covered if something happens, or will you guys decide you¡¦d rather not pay for an expensive treatment because maybe I was unknowingly paying the wrong premium for a few months? I feel like concerns like that should be addressed somewhere during the sign-up process. Maybe I¡¦m wrong, but I¡¦d guess most of your customers have mixes rather than purebred dogs, so I¡¦d bet this isn¡¦t exactly a rare possibility. 3) There¡¦s a part of the process that asks what hospitals she¡¦s been to in her life. She hasn¡¦t been to any ¡§hospitals,¡¨ but she has been to an urgent care once. I didn¡¦t list it because I assume that doesn¡¦t count, but whether or not it does, some simple verbiage to the effect of ¡§Please include any urgent care centers or vet appointments for injuries or illness.¡¨ (Or conversely, ¡§You do not need to include urgent care visits¡¨). As a customer, I¡¦m worried that I¡¦m going to do something wrong during the sign-up process, not find out until I make a claim, and then not be covered after paying premiums for years. ¡X Other than these concerns, the process was mostly pretty easy.

The Company with a Heart
Every time I called Trupanion to ask questions about the policy before I enrolled, I was treated with kindness, patience, and a knowledgeable answer to my question (unlike one company I was considering hung up on me when I called). I was NEVER pressured to take out the insurance. And I really like the fact that Trupanion is available 24/7 to take calls.
