I feel like I paid for insurance that provided absolutely no benefit.
My dog is 5 years old, and since the day it was born I have paid for MetLife Pet Insurance. I had never filed a claim until last month, when my dog developed diarrhea and I took it to the veterinarian. The vet recommended several tests to get an accurate diagnosis, including a pancreatic blood test. When I submitted the bill, I was told that the pancreatic blood test is considered a “routine test.” Really? I’m extremely disappointed. I’ve paid for this insurance for 5 years without ever using it, and now that I finally need it, nothing is covered. This situation is incredibly frustrating. I will be looking for another insurance company, and I definitely will not recommend MetLife Pet Insurance to anyone. I feel like I paid for insurance that provided absolutely no benefit.

Worth the money
In all the years I have had this insurance, I always seem to get my premium back. I have been disappointed that they will not cover allergy shots and gland cleaning. However my last bill of $1055 for dental and shots - I got back $860.

Good response time
Good response time. It seems I pay a lot more annually than I get in return. Reevaluating.

Metlife is great
Metlife is great! I have been with them for a couple years now and this year I have been using it more than ever do to my senior feline have renal failure. The coverage is top tier for me and has covered all of my pets needs. My pet is my baby and I would do anything for him! Thank you metlife!

Premium going from $68 a month to over $90 a month when policy renews. I get this policy on a group discount from my employer (Last Lowe’s Home Improvement). A roughly 50% premium hike is absurd. I will be looking at other companies pricing to see if I need to switch.

I was disappointed with my experience
I was disappointed with my experience. After receiving a $1,300 veterinary bill, my coverage only reimbursed approximately $25, which fell far below my expectations. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this service. I found that paying out-of-pocket directly through my veterinarian was more cost-effective, as they offered very reasonable pricing.

I had an incident with my dog that required emergency treatment. The first part of the bill was $479. I was reimbursed $1. I understand I have a deductible and 10% copay but it seems that unless I have a bill that runs in the thousands Trupanion insurance is of little value to me.
