Illogical and Cowardly

$143/month for my GSD. Developed anal sacculitis (anal gland infection). Veterinarian prescribed strict Hydrolized food diet in an attempt to recitify the condition as last ditch effort prior to surgery and removal of anal glands. Pets Plus Us approved all related anal sacculitis vet visits but not the Hydrolized food diet. Because I tried it once a long time ago (prior to Pets Plus Us) in attempt to help with her allergies (I ceased as it was ineffective) and claimed that the food is part of "prexisting condition". Food is used as treatment modality for her anal sacculitis and it has been effective. Still fighting them. Otherwise it's fine. Don't get the impression this medical insurance provider is any different than the others. These guys are sleezy too. They hide behind insurance language and speak more than others I find. So be prepared to be inundated by extreme court like lanagauge and behaviour as well as stalling tactics.

Pet Insurance is INVALUABLE

I took out Trupanion Insurance per the advice of our vet, in 2009, when our dog Mr. Bryce, (Rescued from an abusive situation), a German Shep/Golden Retriever and Chow mix, was one year old. Trupanion paid 90% coverage for the same condition, of which for most of his life was occasional Colitis-related. When he was eleven, he had anal cancer and once again - 90% coverage/reimbursement for his cancer treatment. The treatment extended his life by two years. When I had to let him go due to the cancer advancing, Trupanion paid 90% for euth services at home. We used the services of Hearts and Halos, for home euth, which I strongly recommend. Our previous dog, Bruce, a Golden Retriever, had cancer as well - a Melanoma, and we didn't have insurance - cost us upwards of $5,000 for treatment, which sadly, didn't give him a sizeable life extension. Following that experience, pet insurance was nothing to consider. If we ever have another dog, will take out insurance again - although I'd have to consider other pet insurance as well. Since the time I had it, I see it's a more competitive field.

So easy and so helpful. Highly recommend!

Our dog is newly insured by Trupanion (since July, 2024). Five days ago she tore her cruciate ligament and we knew from experience with a previous dog that she would need an expensive orthopedic surgery (TPLO). The high end of the surgical estimate was around $8,000, which is the going rate in our area. Thanks to Trupanion's preauthorization process, the surgeon's assistant was able to submit the estimate and find out within minutes how much Trupanion would cover. After deductible they covered 90%, which greatly reduced what we had to leave as a deposit, and it was obviously a HUGE cost saving over the total cost if she wasn't insured with Trupanion. My husband and I were so impressed with Trupanion and literally cannot recommend them highly enough. The cost of the monthly premiums may feel high, but it is so worth it after just one episode of a covered emergency expense.

NATIONWIDE IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE

Though I'm not one of the thousands of customers dropped by nationwide, my rate went up$1200/yr to $3600/yr and my coverage dropped from 70% to 50%. I have the policy 8 years since my dog was a puppy. Not real happy.

Nationwide-a $ hungry organization-buyer beware!

My new employer offered me pet insurance thru nationwide at a discount and I wanted to switch my existing nationwide policy to the employer plan. Nationwide told me I could switch at renewal. Upon renewal I called to switch it and then they denied the switch because the services rendered during the existing policy were considered pre-existing. They are a money hungry organization willing to tell what you want to hear just for a sale. I would have never selected them if I knew they would pull some deceitful bs like this. Buyer Beware!!!

Complete Scam

Complete scam. You pay hundreds a year for a policy that covers virtually nothing. Stupid clause about dental that requires you to endanger your pet and put them through unnecessary anesthesia in order for periodontal disease care to be covered. Wish I could get back every dime I've given them.

BUYER BEWARE

Wish I never committed to this plan...any claim takes 30 davs for them to "decide" whether or not they will cover anything…it's cost roulette with these guys..how can you make a financial decision without knowing what they will help you with?.Always assume they won't and prepare to foot the bill. My dog does not have any pre-existing conditions, medications or allergies. I remain with them because after 3 years it's impossible to get a reasonable rate anywhere else. Went with these guys through Costco, got a reasonable rate only for them to raise the premiums unannounced. When questioned I was told "inflation!" Never again. I

Scam!

This pet insurance company is great as long as you make no claims and just keep paying money. One of my pets had to have surgery for a non-preexisting condition and after getting pre-approved for the claim the pet insurance covers $45 out of $1900 wow great pet insurance. Do yourself a favor and save the monthly payment in an account for your pets at least the benefit will be greater than paying a large amount each year just to get back $45.

Too expensive - not worth it

The payment towards the claim does not outweigh the premium. Not worth it

Thankful for Pet's Best

We chose Pets Best because it is the top rated pet insurance provider by Consumer Reports. The price for accident/illness coverage is very reasonable and we are very happy with the claims process. Our rescue puppy (Noodles) recently injested a large amount of mouse poison. After inducing vomiting at home we took her to Med Vet hospital in Canal Winchester, Ohio where she was treated for 48 hours. She suffered no permanent effects from the episode and is now healthy and happy. We were able to get her the best treatment possible because we knew we had pet insurance. Our claim was reimbursed in time for us to pay off our Care Credit balance with no interest. Pets Best is a blessing and we are very thankful to have this top rated coverage.
