despite some points for improvement, a positive experience.

I've had the insurance for a year and it's been extremely helpful. Just this year, my 7-year-old dog, who has never been ill, started having various problems. Some of them unfortunately started during the waiting period and were treated as pre-existing conditions, but the rest were covered and were our salvation. On a positive note, they didn't increase my price absurdly after a year, even though I had used their insurance (unlike Trupanion who DOUBLED the deductible for my other dog who didn't even use the insurance). a negative point is that the website is limited and there's no customer service, so for most things you have to call. Reimbursement also takes forever (it's taken 40 days but on average it takes 20-30) but overall I'm very satisfied.

Ruptured Disc

My two year old beagle required surgery for a ruptured disc. Because of Pets Best I was able to get her the best care available. She has made a full recovery, much faster than anyone expected. Her bill was a little over $8000. After paying a $250 deductible and 20% copay, I was reimbursed $6500. The only item not reimbursed was for vitamins. Her premium for the year was less than $500 so it's been very cost effective to have her insured with Pets Best.

Complete Disappointment

When I purchased this insurance, it was claimed to begin immediately with no waiting period which is why I selected this company over all the others. I took my newly adopted puppy into the vet due to kennel cough and submitted the claim. The mobile app to submit a claim is garbage, it crashes and glitches constantly. Then it took nearly 30 days to review and deny my claim. I received no updates for nearly 20 days about the process, and the update was an emailed apology for the delay in processing. I will be looking for new insurance.

Greasy Fetch

I didn’t use Fetch insurance at all because I had to take my animal into the Vet 1-2 day short of the 2-week waiting period. I ended up spending $800 at the Vet,wasn’t reimbursed for anything and when I ask for my refund for not using Fetch pet insurance at all they after explaining the situation they said forget it. So I paid the Vet out of pocket and also Fetch insurance that I wasn’t able to use.I’ll never purchase Fetch pet insurance ever again!!

Fine until your dog needs service

Great plan when you have a young healthy pet that doesn’t need meds, etc but when you start submitting claims, they will double and even triple your premiums. Beware.

Jessica - We appreciate your being part of the Healthy Paws family and are glad we have been able to provide coverage for all of your claims during that time. We realize no one likes any form of premium increase. As our customer care team member covered in your call, premiums are calculated on a state-by-state basis in accordance with filings that have been approved by state insurance regulators. Your premium amount increase is influenced by two primary factors, the increased age of your pet, and the cost of veterinary care services reflected in the claims paid in your specific state. All pet insurance companies, no matter how they market their benefits, will raise rates to keep up with the rapidly rising cost of veterinary care, including specialty and emergency care. We do our best to be transparent regarding annual premium increases by including this information on the "Frequently Asked Questions" page of our website. The Healthy Paws Team

Very Impressed

I ended up purchasing pet insurance after my kitten had to have foreign body removal surgery and decided to insure both my kittens. Low and behold within a month they were both back at emerg for vomiting and lethargy. One needed a 36 hour hospital stay for fluids and the other needed a foreign body removal surgery. I submitted both claims and was approved for coverage. Total bill for both of them was over $10,000. Fetch is 100% worth the cost and peace of mind. Claims were easily filed on the app and went into review right away. I received my payout via direct deposit within 2 weeks of filing. Fetch has made me a true believer in pet insurance.

Excellent Responsiveness, Questionable Increases

I've had only great experiences with MetLife pet insurance in terms of phone responsiveness and ease of making a claim. My only concern is that my rate went up 40% in one year, and no one was able to adequately explain that large increase. I understand my dog is one year older and veterinarian care in TN may have increased from last year, but FORTY PERCENT?!?!? Still a better price than most, though the increase did cause me to shop around a bit. We'll see what next year bring...

Premium increase

Well, while I am grateful that I have been reimbursed for some of the vet costs, I am very surprised that Trupanion Canada has just sent notice of a 27% increase in monthly premium, and has gotten the information on the most recent claims wrong, and has not yet replied with any explanations. Their website assures that premiums only go up when costs increase in 'my area' generally, not specifically, but 27% is excessive, especially when combined with a drop in customer service quality.

Rate increase from $57/month to $161/month, 0 claims.

I originally purchased my policy when my puppy was around 6 months old. I asked about rates and rate increases and was told that there would be minor rate increases but by insuring early I’m locking in a rate for low risk factors. My dog is now 7 years old and my renewal summary show next years rate at $161.18/month for the first 5 years rate increase were reasonable. After 5 years I was paying around $70/month, but the last few have been steep jumps. This is the explanation for my new rate. “Why your price is changing As your pet gets older, their risk of getting sick or hurt goes up, which means they cost more to insure. Your pet’s breed and the cost of veterinary care in your area can also be a factor.” I would suggest self insuring, I plan to for my next pet. If you do want to opt for pet insurance, I recommend asking for a brake down of premiums by age of your breed so that you can make a proper assessment of what you’ll be signing up for.
