PetsBest review

"An absolutely AMAZING company. It is The Best. Multiple policy options are available with very competitive premiums. Claim processing couldn't be easier and transparent. And as an added benefit, if there is a need to call the customer service line, you actually talk to a real person who is friendly, competent, knowledgeable and helpful in resolving ANY issue. If you are looking for a pet health insurance company, you are wasting your time if you are trying to find a better and more responsive company than PetsBest; such a company does not exist."

Feeling grateful for having Healthy Paws Pet Insurance!

Less than 24 hours after picking up my one year old pup from five days of boarding, he started showing symptoms of kennel cough. I tried calling the boarding facility (on a Saturday while they were still open) and no one answered or returned my call, as requested. By Sunday the symptoms were terrible and I needed to bring Peanut to the Emergency Vet Clinic. This is something I had tried to avoid by contacting the boarding facility on a Saturday (while my vet was seeing patients). After a battery of tests and X-rays it was determined that my pup had contracted kennel cough (and YES he had the Bordetella vaccine recently). Knowing I had Healthy Paws pet insurance made the decision to go to the emergency vet so much easier. After a night with little rest, I didn't want to wait another day to go to my regular vet. Sunday evening, I received antibiotics and cough suppressant for Peanut and he started feeling better withina day or two. Submitting my claim and requesting reimbursement was so fast and simple. All on my phone through the Healthy Paws App. One note: Do read the fine print of your policy so you understand which costs are covered and which ones are not. Receiving 80% of the cost of this visit (minus the exam fee) is a tremendous help - especially for an emergency visit. I highly recommend getting a Healthy Paws pet insurance policy for your furry loved one!

Christmas Eve Emergency

"My young dog got sick on Christmas Eve and had to go to the emergency vet. Of course, they did lots of tests and procedures to find out what was the problem. After several hours he was able to go home with 2 medicines and orders for his care. Thankfully I had Pets Best Insurance to help with the expense! It was a good Christmas after all."

Healthy Paws - Highly Recommend

I've had HP for 9 years. They consistently provide a no-hassle experience and typically pay claims within days. One of my dogs has required multiple surgeries and procedures - and I've never had a rate hike due to the number of claims submitted, or the cost of claims. So glad I have HP and would highly recommend to all pet parents!

My Healthy Paws Pet Insurance Story

This is my Healthy Paws pet insurance policy story. Eight years ago, soon after I retired, my wife and I got a poodle/border collie mix puppy that we named Koa (because I’m from Hawaii and Koa is not only the name of the wood but also means “warrior” or “fearless”). When you’re 65 years old, getting a dog as energetic as Koa was probably not the best choice, but I was old, not dead, and Koa was so much fun! He was just a bundle of energy and perpetual motion and wicked smart to boot. In the first weeks of having Koa, my wife told me that we should get pet insurance, because Koa seemed to be the kind of dog that would eventually need it - he was running hard, crashing into walls, chasing critters, digging up the yard, darting across the beach - all the crazy wacky things that boy dogs do, and that was even before we house trained him.. So that's what I did - after some research, I chose Healthy Paws pet insurance. I knew Chubb from my working days and was happy with their products and services for humans. At the time, very few pet insurance companies, including Healthy Paws, were offering well care, but that wasn't my big concern. I wanted coverage for the other things - CCL and tendon tears, broken bones, stuff like that. Healthy Paws' policy offering was great - 80% off those things with no limits. Sounded great so I signed up when Koa was four months old. For eight years, Koa was very active. Extremely active. So active, that his FitBark tracker constantly ranked him in the 95% percentile for activity. He became a great frisbee dog and could play fetch for hours without stopping. He would wear down the Aussies and retrievers and border collies that would dare chase after his frisbee. But all that took its toll on poor Koa. One day, he just couldn't bear weight on his rear legs. We had previously seen the early signs of CCL problems, but we were hoping that he would one day get better. He did, a few times, and then finally he didn’t, and we found ourselves looking at bearing the costs for bilateral CCL surgery, t-cell therapy, and tendon repair last year at a cost that was the equivalent of a new car. The cost for Koa’s first surgery – the bilateral CCL surgery - was in the five figures. When I submitted the invoice, the voice in my head told me that Healthy Paws would balk at the cost and find some reason to not cover the bill. But to my surprise, they did inside of a week. Koa’s second surgery came a month later – the surgery to repair Koa’s tendon injury. The cost was also in the five figures, but less than the first. Healthy Paws took 48 hours to cover that one. They’ve since covered the weekly cast and bandage changes and probably will cover rehab expenses. So here’s what I’ve learned from poor Koa’s experiences. When Koa was young, I thought paying pet insurance premiums was an extravagance that solely addressed my peace of mind. Now I’m thinking that vet bills are astronomically far more expensive than pet insurance premiums. If you have an active dog that is warrior-like and fearless, you might want to consider pet insurance. I am very pleased with Healthy Paws. They do what you want insurance companies to do when you need them: they do what they promise. And thanks to Healthy Paws, Koa got the care he needed without us having to think about financing or whether to forego treatment for economic reasons.

Must have pet insurance

Our new puppy scout has had a tough start with several G.I. issues prompting a vet visit. On our first visit, our veterinarian recommended Pets best. I’ve never had insurance for my pet in the past, but went ahead and did it. I am so glad as I have had to make several claims which processed very easily and no issues through Pets best. It gave me the peace of mind to be able to take my dog in and not worry about a large bill. I’ve recommended Pets best to all of my friends, and I know that several have went forward with getting insurance. Thank you, Pets best for taking good care of our dog

Really Appreciate MetLife

We adopted a Great Pyrenees and immediately purchased wellness and sickness/hospitalization insurance for him. Later, he became ill. We are so glad we had pet insurance. MetLife took about 29 days to pay the claims but they did pay them. We thought initially it would take 5-15 days and were a little frustrated but the contract does give them 30 days. The bill was pretty large and we were very satisfied concerning the insurance coverage payment. There was no fuss; the representatives were very helpful; and we are so glad we purchased the insurance from MetLife. It is a smart decision. We will absolutely continue the coverage throughout our pet's life. I have the experience of having a beloved pet without insurance and he needed each hip replaced and just caught everything - but he was an angel and it cost us a lot over his life. This is why we immediately insured our GP and it's been a great decision. We highly recommend MetLife.

Biggest waste of money

After paying $75-$105 monthly for my dog since I brought him home almost 10 years ago and NEVER needing to make a claim until his very last day I am so disappointed in what a waste this was. I was happy to pay as I didn’t want to worry about finances in an emergency and wanted to ensure I could help my dog. Well, with never missing a payment and only having a $200 deductible, Trupanion paid out $89 in my dogs end of life emergency. Oh, and they don’t cover the cost of cremation/burial, which I was told they did when I signed up! You’re better off putting your money into savings and holding it for a raining day as I feel like I threw it away!

Tried multiple companies and spot has been the best

I don't have much to say except that I've been with a few pet insurance companies over the year, and Spot has been one of the most cost-efficient (especially for our older dogs) and has been one of the easiest to process claims with. As expected, new conditions took a little longer to process (a couple weeks) because our vet needed to submit copies of medical records - but otherwise, the claims are started via the website or their app and submitted within minutes, most claims are completed within days, and they're directly deposited to my account. The entire process is smooth and the UI works great.
