Pets Best
Pets Best has been my insurance for 4+ years. They make it very easy to put a claim in. They keep you posted on the process which is done in a timely manner. I have not had any issues with them. My only complaint is that the premiums have increased each year 20-40%.
Healthy Paws For the Win!
We have had Healthy Paws for our dog since we adopted him from the humane society when he was just a puppy. We decided to get insurance for him after the amount of money we spent on our first two adopted dogs toward the end of their lives. We figured one catastrophic event is all it would take to make it worth our while. We were correct! The first few years of his life we did not even meet the deductible - which was fine, that meant we had a healthy boy on our hands. Recently Lemmy (our dog) developed a limp that would not go away. We discovered he had a torn cruciate ligament in his knee. I did not do any calling ahead of time to make sure it was covered - which had me nervous. No need to be - Healthy Paws covered 80% of the surgery (minus our deductible) and all costs associated with it - except the exam - which is the plan we are signed up for. The premium has risen slightly every year with age, but that is to be expected. We love Healthy Paws!
Well Worth It!
"I have 3 rescue cats. All of them young and related. They are indoor only cats but that doesn't mean they don't have accidents, illnesses, and regularly need to see their Vet for wellness visits. I learned a long time ago that you need to have really good pet insurance. Pets Best is by far the most comprehensive pet insurance I've had. They are very transparent with your costs and reimbursements. They are easy to get in touch with for assistance and I find filing a claim online to be simple and straightforward. My male cat dislocated his knee and had to have major surgery which was expensive. Pets Best covered this. We have no idea how he did it but at 2 years old, he clearly believed he could fly. Perhaps he had to learn the hard way that he's not a bird. His mother and sister suffered from urine crystals and we have been working with our Vet to clear this up as the little girl cat developed stones, which is quite serious. Pets Best covered their tests and medications which is substantial. Pets Best is an essential for my ability to take care of my cats. They allow me to keep my fur babies in excellent health. I am very pleased with their service. "
Cost
We chose this insurance first 5 years all good a few claims but that is what you pay for …. Right? Last year insurance premiums were about to go up 70% REALLY !!!! We chose to drop coverage from $15,000.00 to 10,000.00. Lo and behold this year our dogs insurance is going up from a little over a thousand dollars a year to $1660.00 a year REALLY….. so I guess they just keep bumping it up until a person either gets pissed off and cancels or to be able to afford it a person keeps dropping the coverage until it’s pointless to have it at all but they still sucked the coverage out of you for 5 plus years when your pup is at their best …. Young and healthy. This is so sad thus company is not for the pet it’s for their corporate greed I would not recommend them to anyone. Should have stayed with Trupanion
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance: A Lifesaver for Our Furry Family Member
As pet owners, we all want the best for our furry companions, and for us, that includes making sure our dog is covered in case of unexpected health issues. Our eight-year-old chocolate lab is a beloved member of our family, and thanks to Healthy Paws Pet Insurance, we've been able to focus on his care rather than worrying about the financial side of things. We've had to use our Healthy Paws coverage twice over the years, and both experiences have been nothing short of exceptional. Their customer service team is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile. In both instances, they quickly verified our coverage and provided us with much-needed reassurance about what would be covered, which eased a lot of the stress during tough times. Submitting claims is incredibly easy and user-friendly. What really stood out to us was how quickly Healthy Paws processed and paid our claims—within just a few days of submission. This efficiency allowed us to focus on our dog's recovery without the added worry of financial strain. Having Healthy Paws gives us peace of mind knowing that we can provide the best care for our dog without hesitation. For anyone considering pet insurance, we can't recommend Healthy Paws enough. It's not just insurance—it's a safety net for the moments when you need it most. Healthy Paws truly understands that pets are family, and their exceptional service reflects that every step of the way.

Prompt compensation and customer service
For my first claim I was impressed with how quickly and easily I was compensated. I expected there would be a big fight for my puppy who had to have his kidney removed. I expected them to say it was related to a broken leg suffered from a dog attack which happened right before I signed up for insurance. When you call customer service for any enquires someone pleasant actually answers the phone! The monthly rates are very reasonable and the claim portal is very easy to navigate. I plan on staying enrolled for the life of my dog as long as rates doing go through the roof like other pet insurance plans I've used.

Relief during a difficult time
A couple years ago one of my dogs became very sick. She spent multiple nights in hospital, having tests done and medications administered, while we tried to figure out why she was so sick. Through the process we discovered that she had very advanced lymphoma and an inoperable tumor that was causing lots of pain and sickness. We had to make the difficult decision to put her to sleep. Knowing I had Pets Best Insurance made the process so much smoother. Knowing I wasn't going to be out thousands of dollars, and in debit, on top of already loosing my first puppy I had raised for 6yrs was definitely a relief during that difficult time.

Fine for accidents, significant unnecessary exclusions
I've been using Pets Best for years. Their premiums aren't terrible for insurance as I understand it, but they have major exclusions in coverage. The worst is related to periodontal disease. They won't cover anything unless your animal's teeth were cleaned within the last 13 months. Given that a dental cleaning has to be performed under anesthesia, this is a minimum of $300 - $1000 for each cleaning and has never been supported as necessary in a very I've visited unless there is evidence to support it. So to deny covering the anesthesia for a tooth extraction and the extractions themselves that became necessary out of nowhere with no prior history is absurd. They have also claimed in the past that one of my cats had a pre-existing condition so they wouldn't cover the bills (it was not a pre-existing condition). I'm not sure what insurance has less exclusions though.

Not sure what am I paying for
all 10 claims submitted this year for stander care such as vaccines and two respiratory infections were denied. In NYC where vet services are so expensive I am paying almost $600/year while this insurance only reimburses $40 dollars/year??? Nice profit margins at customer expense. There are better and more effect insurances. I am considering switching as I feel this is taking advantage of the customers.
