My last two beloved Beagles convinced me I needed pet insurance on my next dog.

My last two beloved Beagles convinced me the next time I adopted a dog I would make sure I had pet insurance. I adopted a 6-1/2 year old Basset Hound mix that had never been to a veterinarian and unfortunately he came with several unknown health issues including severe dental issues. I picked MetLife Pet Insurance after reviewing several different companies policies including submitting claims. Each time I've submitted claims the representative I spoke with on the phone has been SO VERY helpful! Each one has gone beyond the scope of what they were required to do but it helped save time and frustration for me! MetLife also has a video to watch which explains exactly what is needed to submit a claim and all of it can be done online or through the mail if one prefers. I have submitted all my claims online and within a week MetLife has deposited the covered portion of the claim into my bank account. Pet care has become extremely expensive but I've been thankful for the coverage MetLife includes with my policy. It has truly given me peace of mind when I take my pet to the vet.

I have been with this company for 12…

I have been with this company for 12 years. They changed ownership halfway through and it hasn’t been the same since. The rates are sky high now and beware- if you change your address they will change your rate and reset your deductible back to zero without alerting you that this will happen.

Fetch is not easy to work with

Fetch is difficult to work with for claims, slow to respond and ultimately didn't work with us well to help cancel our policy. We moved all of our pets off of fetch insurance to Lemonade and have a much better experience there. We also told our local vet that Fetch is difficult to work with and make sure that he does not recommend it to any of his patients. Fetch also does not make it possible to cancel insurance at any time, you have to wait until the next billing date. This is different from almost every insurance.

Scammed

The worst insurance ever uses tactics to deny claims. Charges me a $177 just about for one dog who only had some acute problems, like a bad ear infection and Arthritis of course, because she's getting older and a urinary tract infection. They're asking me for records from 3 years back. This dog hardly ever went to the vet. So I don't understand why I would be given such a hard time and charge. So much money to boot their customer service is terrible and they take long to process claims. And they're too expensive. Do not cover your dog under this insurance. Insurance i've had them for a while on my dog.And they don't want to pay me any money for her. What is the point of having it?If i'm paying all the bills. Update 12/17 @ ASPCA it seems you give the same generic response to everyone from what i've read on all the negative reviews about this insurance. passing it on.? You're not changing your tactics or your ways and you are overcharging your customers and not covering their pets, if the pets are young possibly that's when you cover. But obviously you are not correcting the problem and lame excuses is all I've read throughout.

I’ve had an excellent experience with Figo Pet Insurance

I’ve had an excellent experience with FIGO Pet Insurance. The service has been outstanding — I submitted my reimbursement request and received my payment back much faster than I expected. The process was easy and smooth, and the pricing is very reasonable for the coverage you get. I highly recommend FIGO for anyone looking for reliable and efficient pet insurance.

Continued Great Experiences

Process is easy to follow and response time is typically exceptionally quick. While you do have to get the vet notes in advance of submission, this is very simple by asking the vet. My experiences have all been positive with MetLife Pet Insurance and the cost is reasonable for the piece of mind.

AKC pet insurance is no longer any good. 10 years ago, they were great. As of 2-3 yrs ago, pretty bad.

I've had AKC insurance for over a decade. Up until 3 years ago, they handled claims quickly, fairly, and now that has all changed. On a $2400 vet bill, I got back about $330. I have two policies, and all the bells and whistles. My monthly premium is slightly over that. I spoke to them, got nowhere. They only pay out $50 for an exam, when in the NE it costs almost $200 for a dog. They don't cover a lot of things that they used to. My dogs are 3 and 4 and my cats are 3. So its not an old age thing nor pre existing conditions. I did shop around, got a lot of quotes, settled on Pet's Best.

If your pet gets sick , you are doomed

If your pet gets sick, this company will raise your rates, sky high ,with no limit. My dog got sick, and the premiums went up, without notice more than twice as much. There is presently a class action suit against them in California.
