My Dog is Alive Today because of Healthy Paws Pet Insurance
I have been a Healthy Paws Pet Insurance customer for six years. I signed up shortly after adopting my dog Delta in early 2012. My first experience of using Healthy Paws/filing a claim was for Delta in 2013 after he tore his ACL. The customer service is second-to-none. I thought I was grateful then...little did I know how grateful I would be today. A few weeks ago, out of nowhere, Delta fell gravely ill. He was running a fever of 106, his platelet counts had plummeted to such a low range that he was at risk for spontaneous hemorrhaging, he was anemic, not eating and very lethargic with labored breathing. This all happened very suddenly and within a 24-hour period. I was an emotional wreck. Seeing my best friend suddenly get so sick and unsure if he would pull through was one of the most stressful times of my life. I reside in Denver and all of my family is back east, so far all intents and purposes Delta isn't just my best friend, but my family. Delta was admitted into ICU in an attempt to stabilize him and diagnose what was wreaking such havoc on his system. The entire time the doctors kept talking through with me the tests they suggested running along with the costs. The initial estimate was anywhere from $2,000.00 to $4,000.00, which could go higher. Knowing I had Healthy Paws took every ounce of financial stress out of this situation. It made it so much easier to say, "Yes, run the test," or "Yes, try that medication" knowing I wouldn't have to bear the entire financial burden. All I had to do was focus on getting Delta the best care possible. In between sobbing in the animal hospital, calling home and crying to my parents, and visiting with Delta all I could think was "Thank God, I signed up for Healthy Paws when I adopted him. Thank God." Today, Delta is on the mend and healing - all of this caused from a simple tick bite. I know part of the reason my sweet boy is home with AND ALIVE is because of his Healthy Paws Pet Insurance coverage. All in all his treatments ran me close to $6,000.00 and I received a 90% reimbursement (I had met my deductible earlier this year). My policy runs me about $45.00 a month and it is absolutely priceless to me after going through this whole ordeal. I can not recommend Healthy Paws Pet Insurance enough. They played a huge part in saving my best friends life.

Definitely worth it to have
We first purchased pet insurance when we got our second dog. Our first dog has a serious illness and we did not have insurance, so the costs added up. We've now had Nationwide since around 2005, definitely comes in handy. Has saved lots of money in the long run.

Healthy paws has been a life saver for our family. All I do is take a picture of the invoice through their awesome app and then receive my money back in a timely manner with no questions asked. Easy straight forward insurance I will get with any future dog. Recommended to all my friends. Thank you healthy paws!

Great customer service
I'm so glad we have ASPCA health insurance. There is always great customer service, and they make everything easy. Their app/website is also very user friendly. We opted in for the wellness package and it's worth every penny.

This company is not good at all
This company cannot follow up then even asks me to reach out then claims that my dogs dew claws are not based on illness. She had two infections do to these dew claws so vet suggested removal. So thinking well we are covered then to get an email saying it is not an accident or illness nothing is covered followed by a “warm regards” really?? Totally irritated here. I cover two poodles and honestly together coverage sucks compared to my monthly bill for this.

Quick Claim Settlement
Because I didn't have insurance last year I paid over $7K in vet bills for a bull terrier that ultimately succumbed to liver failure from zipper surgery (she ate the outside fabric of an Ikea pillow). So it was a blessing to have everything paid on Twinkle except my $250 deductible. When you're retired you worry about big expenses and don't want to have to tap into a retirement fund either. I will be renewing the policy come October. Thank you Nationwide!

Amazing company to have by my side and my dogs side (I have three dogs all insured with Nationwide)
Nationwide is always on my side and my dogs side. I would not insure my dogs with any other company. I adore the people who are so friendly, willing to assist, so understanding and so knowledgeable. The price is perfect for the type of insure that I have on all three of my dogs (I have twin American Eskimos and a Border Collie). I always tell people about Nationwide and encourage them to insure their pets with you!

Trupanion is not a good insurance for older dogs
Trupanion lacks transparency. I insure 2 dogs. One is 15 years old. The cost to insure the older dog is about $200/month; only to find out Trupanion does not really cover older dogs. Read your contract - if you have an older dog this company is not worth it.
