We’ve been very happy with Nationwide. We’ve been customers for almost 20 years (between our last dog and our current dog) and love having the peace of mind with the cost of vet visits.

I have found that Nationwide has been very good about coverage of claims for Fanny Rose.
Customer service at Nationwide has been very good. Coverage of claims for Fanny Rose has also been excellent. I take good care of my dog, feed her healthy food, exercise her, brush her teeth , pay out of pocket to have them cleaned non anesthetically 4 times per year....and do my very best to insure her good health at age 8. So when she does have health issues I'm very grateful that Nationwide steps up to cover a large part of them.

Your e-mail confirming receipt of claim assigns a claim number but adding treatment date to that would be immensely helpful.
Reimbursement for claims takes too long although coverage for well puppy and major medical seems to be thorough.

Healthy Paws Loyal for life!
Healthy Paws has been there for our pups for over 5 years! They really make the coverage easy to understand and they have quick reimbursements. It's such a relief knowing I can give my dogs the best care without worrying about a bill.

Nationwide Pet Insurance is Great!
We have two Basset Hounds with policies. They are 6-year olds and are brother and sister. They have been insured with Nationwide for about five years since Nationwide (then VPI) became available to me as an employee benefit option. I am since retired but have maintained the coverage. The coverage is great, the service is quick, and my wife and I are very happy with Nationwide.

I have been happy
I have been happy with the coverage in the past but this year the premiums have gone up approximately 20% for both cats bringing it up to $102/month. This has resulted in me cancelling one of the coverages and I may increase the deductible with the other cat in the following month. Financial hardship is not the issue. I just think its getting expensive considering there have been very few claims. One of my friends stated its more than what she pays for medical premiums for herself. That is the main reason for my middle-of-the road recommendation above.

Significant annual increases in monthly premium
Significant annual increases in monthly premium, far-reaching excuses for denial of coverage on certain things, and extensive waiting periods of claim reviews makes it unlikely I will recommend trupanion to anyone.

Fast payment, works well with vet, no paperwork for us! Pricey, though, but our boy is worth it!

Response was fast
The best thing Trupanion has going is that the veterinarian s office files the paperwork. The response was fast, but disappointing in that it seems that not too much is covered in the regular care category. Meanwhile we spend over $800 per annum to receive creative statements about what is not covered.
