Ambivalent

Well the claim was settled quickly but you didn't pay anything. So we'll see, want to be sure my monthly payments will have some benefit at some point.

Best Pet Insurnce ever!

I have had pet insurance with multiple companies over the years, Trupanion is far and away the best. I have this insurance for all four of my dogs, three of which are rescues. I switched to Trupanion when Gracie Biue, my Golden, was 1 year. old.. I have always been happy that I did so, but never more than now, since she was diagnosed with cancer. She is now 11 yeas old, and all the premiums I have paid for her during the past ten years have truly been one of the best investments I ever made. Her monthly premium started at $36, and 10 years later it was $76..It is now $99, and without a doubt worth every penny. Her deductible (which I set) is $100 per incident. This means the deductible was applied ONCE at the time of the first cancer claim, after that Trupanion pays 90% of EVERY claim, less the checkup/office call of $65. Her potential bills of $7000+, will cost me around $1000. That is amazing! Every pet owner should get Trupanion when they get a dog or cat, especially a puppy. There will come a day when they will be happy they did, because accidents happen as well as severe illnesses when pets get older. Hands down Trupanion is the best! Kay Witt

Best pet insurance around. Reasonable, responsive, honest and caring staff. Highly recommend.

I switched to ASPCA from another carrier and found them much more cost effective and responsive. The policy was straightforward, no gimmicks and no tricks. I decided to get coverage for my cockapoo as she aged, thinking that the costs of caring for her might increase with age and that I needed to know I could do all I could to keep her well. She had an operation to remove a tumor last year, at age 14, and ASPCA covered 3/4 of the cost. This year, my darling girl passed away and they will cover her emergency hospital bill as well as the charges for euthanasia and cremation.. I am glad I had this policy.

Amazingly easy

I was hesitant to spend the money on insurance for a dog, seemed ridiculous at first. But I have a puppy and was nervous that he would possibly get into trouble here and there. Of course he did, and I'm so happy that I had this insurance - saved me a bundle of money aleady! The claim process is easy and the turn around time is super quick.

Trupanion had our backs.

Trupanion had our backs when Momo, our French bulldog, suffered a slipped disc. We saw no warning signs of IVDD until one evening after a typical walk when our dog lost control of her hind legs. It was an emergency. A veterinarian neurologist performed surgery, thus saving our pet’s life. My wife and I are now working together with Momo to get her back on all fours. I strongly advocate pet insurance for any family who cares about their furry friends. Considering the high cost of surgery and a hospital stay, the monthly insurance payments are a small price to pay for your pet’s well being.

Review

I have to say that your turn around for paying claims is by far the best I have ever experienced. My only complaints are (1) you (meaning your customers) should be able to change their "Pay" date. You should not have them be trapped on a payment date based on the day of the month that someone signed up with you. Example. When I first inquired and submitted coverage for all my pets it was the middle of the month, however when your Co FINALLY accepted my pets as their insurance co and the policy was started, it ended up being a couple of days towards the end of the month. Now I am constantly having to scramble because you auto draw from my account and subsequently ALWAYS leave me short for my RENT. (2) Your customer service dept not only said they could in no way help me change that date, but the best they could do is give me a PO Box address to mail in a complaint. I have to say that I dont feel that they really want to help your customers. Maybe you could look into this and change this silly policy. thanks

Pickles blew his ACL equivalent.

Pickles blew his ACL equivalent. The claim was accepted and paid quickly without question. My only negative would be I thought my policy covered prescription food and physio so I did end up paying more than I expected. I'm still not complaining though.

Astronomical rate increase on renewal

I had two policies with Hartville. After the first year both policies automatically renewed with much higher premiums. The increases were over 36% on one and 53% on the other. I received no notice of the increase, only a single email saying the policies were up for renewal. The increases were only visible by going to the website, logging in and viewing the policy. Hartville claimed they made calls prior to renewal to notify me of the increase but when pressed they admitted that they used an automated system that didn't actually connect when it supposedly called.
