Aggressive (!) premium increases when there’s a claim

Embrace was actually great for the first couple years—but wait until you submit an expensive claim. Initially, the premium was high but manageable. Last year, my cat required surgery and Embrace more than doubled my premium this year. My cat has no other medical issues and nothing the surgery didn’t correct, and my premiums now amount to $3400 per year (truly). What’s the likelihood my healthy cat’s bills will amount to more than that every year going forward? Just about nil. Embrace tries to push out customers with claims—or to recoup everything they paid out within a couple years. That’s not how insurance is supposed to work. Healthy pets with no claims are supposed to subsidize my cat’s bills when he’s sick (and vice versa)—insurance payments shouldn’t be a loan where the insurance company tries to get back from me every penny they paid soon thereafter. So disappointing!

Metlife has been a life saver for my pets. With two young dogs and two cats, vet bills can get out of hand - especially when a fur baby gets sick. The claims process is easy, and refunds come quickly - no drawn out process, and everything is processed according to policy without a bunch of B.S. I'm very thankful for the coverage and the reasonable cost of insurance.

deductible rates

I thought the yearly deductible was well worth the coverage of one pet.

Dropped my sick dog!

Nationwide dropped my plan as soon as my dog got sick! I had seen other reviews saying Nationwide is great until your dog gets sick then they drop you and sure enough that's what happened to me. I paid increasing premiums for five years and then my dog got glaucoma and had a bunch of claims and then my plan was "discontinued" at renewal. They offered me another plan at nearly double the rate for less coverage and they wouldn't even provide me with a written overview of the plan in advance they could only give me the details verbally. And now I can't go anywhere else because then my dog's condition would be considered "pre-existing." They know I'm forced to stay with them at their outrageous prices. Shady company!

My monthly premium increase by $82 without notice. Is it a coincidence that my former premium was $178.71, about the same as the reimbursement on my dogs RX food ($125)? Making my policy a low profit policy. Until now anyway. An increase is understandable, but an $82 increase on a pet policy. went from $178.71 to $260.81. With no Notice!! Customer service agent Steven could not located the notice they were supposed to send.

My adolescent kitten was spayed for the tune of $500. Fetch paid $200 of it. Happy about that for using it for the first time.
